- For the first time, residents of "Univille" (Warehouse 13's hometown) begin experiencing bizarre and increasingly powerful events leading to the discovery that a dangerous artifact is loose in their own backyard.
- "Warehouse 13" - "Beyond Our Control" - July 20, 2010
There are two storylines in tonight's complicated episode.
In the opening sequence we flashback to 1944 to see a Warehouse agent arrive at an army proving grounds in Wichita just in time to witness a big explosion in a nearby building. We learn that it was a Farnsworth demonstration.
In present time Myka and Pete return to the post office in search of his stuff and are informed that the post office is being shut down by the government by an angry postal worker. (Another person leaving is also cold to them).
At the warehouse Claudia futzing with the innards of the Farnsworth to Artie's dismay. It makes a fitz noise and Claudia promise to fix it.
Pete's Farnsworth is now also on the fritz and as he and Myka leave the post office, the local veterinarian watches them walk away, clearly wowed by Pete. Then there is a sudden flash of light and a bunch of old time soldiers appear on street.
When this happens an S.O.S. goes off at the Warehouse alerting Artie there is trouble in town. He and Claudia meet up with Pete and Myka at an older barbershop. It turns out the revolving pole in the window is an artifact detector and it's showing that there's one in town. Artie tells the gang to go door to door to question people about strange happenings - posing as IRS agents, which is what the angry townsfolk think they are. He's going to run a scan on missing artifacts at the Warehouse
At the vet Kelly Hernandez's office she describes the old timey marines she saw and the patches on their uniforms and gets snippy with Pete.
Claudia goes to a hardware store to get parts for the Farnsworth and meets a cute boy named Todd who is new in town. Claudia's Farnsworth rings and she takes it outside. There is another flash of light and a cowboy rides by and the buildings looked transformed to old west.
Pete and Myka get doors slammed in their faces. Then Pete's Farnsworth rings and there's another flash of light. This time it's a shootout in an old west town that plays out.
At the Warehouse they try and suss out what's up - sun spots? biolectric traces? Artie blames it on Claudia futzing with the Farnsworths. They determine the artifact must be in a four square block radius. Pete and Myka head back out as Artie starts another scan.
They discover a massive power drain centered at the hardware store. Pete and Myka go round back and Claudia covers the front. His Farnsworth rings. This time the flash of light produces a scene of a tiger battling a gladiator. Todd sees this and goes running and screaming. This alerts Claudia who busts in and knocks him out. She feels terrible but hears the growling. She bounds upstairs where Pete and Myka discover Todd has been selling illegal satellite feeds to the folks of Univille from the apartment above the store. Thus the power drain. They go back downstairs to discover the gladiator has slain the tiger. Pete gets in the same field with him as the gladiator is giving a speech he recognizes. The gladiator then throws his shield at him. Just as he's about to pounce on Pete, the image winks out.
Myka takes him back to Kelly the vet who bandages his head. Todd is awake and Claudia explains about the Warehouse. He wonders if they're going to hire him. Kelly and Pete bicker some more. Pete realizes that the gladiator is the cowboy and the marine, same guy. They decide to have Claudia see if she can turn the Farnsworths from reacting devices to locating devices.
She gathers supplies at the Warehouse from the "Farnsworth aisle" to make it happen. In the course of her search she informs Artie that a piece from the aisle is not only missing but was never delivered.
Pete and Myka are trying to figure out a town map as they continue their search. Since he was a marine he realizes something Kelly said was off. Marines don't wear patches. They go back and she describes the patch and Pete recognizes it as being from a Raymond St. James movie he used to see on the classic movie station.Every situation that has happened has been out of one of his movies.
Artie looks up records of "Project Gemini" which is tied to the Farnsworth explosion from '44. It turns out he was working on a "transmutational device" with a camera and projector that made 3D images a little too real hence the explosion when tanks were brought forth. (The idea was to project real looking images to the enemy to frighten and confuse them about troop size and preparedness.)
Claudia arrives with locators and when there's another flash they're in a St. James detective movie. Pete realizes the films are happening in the order of a film festival of St. James' work and next up is "Dr. Doomsday" who blows up an entire town.
The convenes at the closed post office and busts in. They found an open crate that was supposed to house the missing piece, but it has gone missing yet again.
It turns out the angry lady from the post office took the projector and has been enjoying the films at her home projected on her TV. Every time she uses her microwave to make popcorn it brings forth another scene. She protests that she did nothing wrong but they confiscate the projector to come up with a plan and search for the next 3D moment. It pops out on the street before them. They decide they need the component camera to interrupt the signal from the projector. But since the camera is fried they need help. It arrives in the form of Todd with the parts Claudia wanted. She kisses him and gets to work on the camera. At the last possible moment, as Dr. Doomsday is about to detonate his bomb, Claudia gets the camera working and projects images of Artie instead.
At the B&B Claudia examines her Tesla. Myka points out that Todd is cute but Claudia doesn't want to talk about it. Pete arrives with a DVD of one of St. James' films. In order to get at his popcorn, Leena, Myka, and Claudia head up to his room to check out the flick. Artie enters and reports that all the parts are back in the Warehouse.
The second storyline belongs to Leena, who has been experiencing terrible headaches since the pearl of wisdom was removed from her head.
Mrs. Frederic comes to speak with her but Mr. Valdon of the Regents has tagged along. They determine that, although MacPherson is dead, he left behind echoes in Leena's head, echoes that might offer some clues about the mischief H.G. Wells is up to. They call in a woman named Taka to help extract the echo. Mrs. F is nervous the procedure, which involves putting the pearl back in Leena's head, could kill her. They go ahead anyway.
As Leena holds an amber colored crystal ball and the pearl works it's magic we hear MacPherson's voice and see images in the ball. Since it's so risky, Mrs. F takes matters into her own hands, literally pushing Taka aside and holding the ball herself in order to eradicate the echoes of MacPherson from Leena's subconscious. Leena takes a sharp intake of breath and her head goes slack. The pearl comes out and Mrs. F announces that she's okay. Later, Mrs. F looks at a drawing of headphones on the table at the B&B and hears an echo in her head about the potential MacPherson echo. Has it transferred to her?
