Matt Passmore in The Glades (2010)

Goofs

Pilot

The Glades

Edit

Continuity

The glass in the picture at the memorial is broken when the cop looks at it, then later when the girl is there it is unbroken then broken again.
(at around 34 mins) As Abby is sitting at the memorial you can clearly see a "Yuengling" beer bottle immediately to the left of the picture. The camera angle changes to a wide shot and it is gone and replaced by a "prop" beer bottle.

Factual errors

While the scientist is identifying the crocodile tooth specimen, he gives the genus name Melanosuchus, then states he can't specify the phylum without additional research. However, a phylum is in fact one of the broadest categories of life after kingdom (plant vs animal vs bacteria), hence he should be able to give this information. Additionally, he says that all members of the chordata family are territorial, although this statement would describe all animals with a backbone and is incorrect.
The ads portrayed the main character as an FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement) Special Agent, yet he is shown to have an FHP (Florida Highway Patrol) partner, and an FHP badge in the pilot. There is no "state police" force in Florida. The highway patrol is a mostly traffic-oriented agency that does not investigate bodies found in swamps unless they are in a vehicle that has crashed. The FDLE does not routinely perform these type of investigations, but will assist local agencies.
FHP troopers do not carry revolvers. All are issued semi automatic pistols.

Revealing mistakes

When the law enforcement are forced to break out of the station due to an axe handle in the outer door, when the door opens, its clearly visible that there is no door hardware, no latch, no butt-plate, nothing. The door could never be secured at any time.

Errors in geography

The glades are set in Miami Florida; When Jim goes to question the young man about what he and his girl were doing in the swamp it shows a large pink hotel. This hotel is not in Miami It is in fact The Don Ceasar in Saint Petersburg Florida, the young mans work shirt even states this fact.
Fisheating Creek is supposed to be the local rendezvous spot where local youths go drink, get high, and have sex. The hotel where the guy who was there works is the Don Cesar on St. Petersburg Beach on the Gulf Coast. FIsheating Creek is 130 miles away near Palmdale, a two hour drive. It is definitely not LOCAL .
The accident is supposed to happened at the intersection of Interlake Blvd. and FIorida Highway 301. There are two errors. There is no Fl.. Highway 301, there is US-301. There is no Interlake Blvd., there are East and West Interlake Blvds.
