Kenyon and Mitchell made documentaries, but they did not focus on events so much as the crowds at events. Here, in this three-minute short subject of a football match, we don't see the players on the field at all. Instead, we see the crowds in the stands, the well-dressed men and women. They a rather genteel lot for football fans, a far cry from the modern image of football hooligans.
And they see us. Well, not us, so much, as the cameras and camera operators. Standing still as the camera focuses on them, they suddenly erupt into cheers and waving. They're not just waving at the cameras, but at the audience. They're waving at us.
