When the mine foreman is pulled through the ice, the ice is only one or two inches thick. This is not sufficient to hold the weight of a tractor-trailer rig, loaded or not.
When the creature first exits the mine and attacks the workers, one of the ore haulers back half is entirely missing. Although you can see a shadow behind it, only the cab and front two wheels are there (it does pivot, but you can look through the windows and tell that its not just out of view, but not there).
