Excellent mix of suspenseful drama and action!

What an excellent show! I have not been so enthusiastic about the next episode of any network television show ever! The captivating political twists and dynamic character interaction are worth the watch in and of themselves! Well expressed anguish, courage, hatred, deceit and honor are evident in the excellent acting and character modeling. The special effects are beyond adequate and there is an over all haunting feeling of reality to the entire series. Well done, well done. I highly recommend this show to anyone who is a fan of the original series, and the recommendation carries for those who don't even like the sci-fi genre. This is good, good TV.

The slide towards mediocrity continues

Warning: Spoilers
The thing with this whole series is it takes the obvious long way around the story at the sacrifice of common sense and logic. Why does the resistance keep dodging chances to win this war? Ryan has Anna by the neck; choke her. Erica is sitting across from her at dinner with only their children present, no guards; attack and try to kill her AT LEAST. This "woman" is responsible for the coming enslavement of our planet. Skip the polite etiquette and too bad if your son hates you. No war is without casualties. Erica even has a blue energy grenade... and uses it to take out the eggs. Why not a kamikaze run at their leadership if you're certain the V's are evil? Price too high?

Remember when that shuttle blew up and the story was "dead humans at the hands of the Fifth Column." What dead humans? I was expecting a TV cover story or something, but no, nothing. The V's just tell people it was full of humans and everyone buys that, even without footage of outraged parents and family of the deceased? (This wouldn't even have been tough to fake, they could have killed some innocents to make it believable.)

This show, which I DVR and watch late at night when I can't find anything else to occupy my time, is trying to be both cool SciFi and excellent Drama but it's failing at both: we haven't seen anything really cool from the V's (say, their true faces) since the first episode and the writing is clearly--exactly even--what no one with sense or conviction would do.

Sometimes I think the only reason I watch this is because Anna was awesome in Firefly and the remnants of BSG are popping up all the time in the cast. It sure isn't for the writing.

And they've had interesting plot lines to explore! That's what really gets me. The med centers for instance. Would people rush to an easy fix, particularly about health care? Damn straight. But the echo effect on stock markets would be HUGE. Just the pharmaceuticals alone would lose billions in unused prescriptions. Big Pharm, Big Oil, Big Anything actually, they would all have an extremely vested interest in at least regulating, if not halting, the free health care at the centers. And for that matter, what about burn victims? People with missing limbs? Why not cosmetic surgery for disfigurement? Seems to me if I wanted an army loyal to an alien race all I'd really have to do is give them a leg up in their own society.

Even the V's aren't acting rationally.
