- Recap.
Emily shows Hank an article: "Heritage Hospital Blasts Community Clinic" (Hank and Jill's). She tells him no one wants to see their doctor in the paper and he points out she took out a full page ad on the back. They banter and start to fool around, which leads her to somewhat admitting to a fear of intimacy.
Early the next morning as Hank, Evan, Divya and Jill approach Jim, a fisherman patient who suffers from Hepatitis, they debate how to fight back against the negative press. While Hank is for doing nothing, Jill and Evan want to openly counter negative publicity. Hank brings Jim a month's supply of interferon and stitches up a bleeding wound on his ankle. Jim repays them with two freshly caught striped bass (handed to Evan to carry).
Hank, driving Jill home, spots Dr. Blair. Jill ducks down ("tell me when she's gone"), but Blair, having seen them, walks over to the car to discuss the article, apologizing for not reaching them before it came out. Blair thinks the smart thing to do is wait a few years for the hospital to set up the clinic, but Jill worries there are no guarantees towards ever opening it. Blair says she thinks she and Jill can do more good work together than separately, leaving her to think about it. "Okay, she's gone now," chirps Hank.
Hank sees Jamie, an over-protective divorcee who thinks his 7-year-old son Jake gets sick every time he returns from visiting his mother (citing exhaustion, loss of appetite and stomachaches). Hank examines Jake but doesn't see anything wrong. Jamie worries about allergies so Hank orders up a scratch test.
Paige meets with Evan to rehire him as her "faux beau" and brief him on an upcoming lunch with her parents. She thinks keeping the current lie going will be easier than telling her parents (particularly her father) the truth. Paige's father is William Collins, a retired general, the CEO of a Fortune 500 defense contractor, and a possible presidential candidate. Her father is a man's man, so Paige coaches Evan in the ways of bourbon and hunting. Paige begins to quiz him on the tale of their first meeting.
Cut to the lunch with William and Paige's mother, Ellen. It seems to go well. Evan ends up saying a few unexpectedly nice things about Paige that weren't scripted - things that weren't hard as they're from the heart - but it's clear she still regards him in the main as a paid escort.
Afterwards they get to talking about hunting. They're in the clear, but before Paige can stop Evan, he puts his foot in it by saying they should go hunting in the fall. Unfortunately, Ellen has a friend with a private hunting lodge for year-round hunting, and a hunting trip is scheduled for Wednesday.
Back at the cottage, Evan asks Divya if his camouflage pants makes his butt look huge. (Unknown as she's never looked at his butt.) For the hunting trip, Evan tells Hank and Divya their plan: for him to pair-up with Paige and have her do all the shooting. Evan must really like her, Hank observes and asks after her feelings for Evan. Evan only knows that making her happy makes him feel happy. "Wow," says Divya, "They grow up so fast." "They really do," concurs Hank.
Divya informs Hank that he has an appointment to meet Jake's mom in the morning, who wants to see copies of his notes and anything else about her son.
Hank arrives to see Jake's mother and is stunned that she is none other than Dr. Blair. Blair tells Hank she's never seen Jake sick and thinks he's grown out of the allergies that Jamie worries about. Further, she says Jamie wants sole custody of Jake. In the yard, Jake plays with the girl he likes, Olivia. Once again he tells Hank he feels fine.
A call from Emily awakens Hank in the middle of the night. She wants him to come over because she is "lonely." (It's a booty call.)
At the beginning of the hunting day, William insists on hunting with Evan to have a men vs. women contest. Each pair takes a dog, and William gives instructions Evan doesn't understand. Evan asks for clarification, and William warns that he doesn't joke when he hunts.
Both Blair and Jamie are distractions as Hank tries to conduct the scratch test. Divya takes the bickering parents away and Hank sees that Olivia has written "POO" on Jake's chest. Jake says he doesn't understand girls. Blair and Jamie return during the test and again cannot contain their arguing around their son. Hank leads them away.
William chastises Evan for resting his gun on a tree when he urinates on the other side.
Emily runs into Jill in town. Emily has positive things to say about the clinic and offers her services. When her statement matches one Hank made earlier, word for word, Jill wonders if that's a famous quote. No, it's just something a lawyer said often whom Emily once dated.
Evan screws up again, this time making a noise right as William is about to shoot. William demands he stay behind him, but after Evan turns around, William and his dog are nowhere to be seen.
The women are about to end their day and decide to find Evan and William. A shot fires with what sounds like Evan crying out afterward.
Hank answers a call to see Jake. Once again Jamie and Blair are fighting over Jake's health, with Jamie refusing to let him go to his mother's house because he always returns sick. Upstairs Jake feels fine but then throws up on Hank's shoes and feels better. He's thrown up several times earlier that week but did not tell his parents because he thought it would make them fight. Divya pops in to tell Hank that Evan has a "912" emergency (one number worse than a 911). Hank sends Divya.
William has accidentally shot Evan in the behind (a "flesh wound") after losing track of him. William is upset because gunshot wounds have to be reported and this won't play well with the press. William admits he doesn't care for Evan and starts to offer to pay him to leave his daughter alone, but the women come running.
Hank tells Jake's parents he's been withholding the fact of throwing up a few times from them. They both admit Jake's had trouble with the divorce. He's begun to fear the dark and won't sleep with his door closed. Blair can't believe she missed her own son's illness. This makes her either the world's worst doctor or worst mother. She tells Hank this is where he's supposed to jump in and say neither one. Hank smiles.
Now back at the cottage, Divya pulls the pellets from Evan's butt. Hank walks in and basically laughs with Divya at Evan. Evan tells them he shot himself when he propped his gun against a tree to pee, it fell over and went off.
Emily and Hank meet at night near the beach. They begin to kiss, but Hank's phone rings. It's test results about Jake, which have him confused. Emily's identification with Jake's situation between divorcing parents reveals a lot about Emily's own history and intimacy issues. They resume kissing but are again interrupted by a call, this time from Jake saying his parents are both unconscious in his room and he doesn't know what to do. Hank keeps Jake talking and has Emily call 911 before they both rush over.
With help from Emily to remove both unconscious parents (still breathing) from the room, Hank and Emily are able to give Jake's parents oxygen and restore consciousness. They are suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning which has come from a faulty hot water heater attached to a new hot tub in the basement below Jake's room. The heater has been piping carbon monoxide into the room and Jake's fear of the dark likely saved his life.
On their way out of town, William attempts to give Evan a check "for your medical expenses." Evan turns it down. The parents leave and, once gone, Paige's body language shows her sincere disinterest in Evan.
Back with his mom, Jake is excited to tell Hank that "POO" meant Property of Olivia. Over lemonade, Blair thanks Hank for his good work and gives him a bag of homegrown tomatoes (later followed by a few zucchinis). She tells him she hasn't changed her mind about the HankMed clinic and, in fact, now wants to take the clinic back immediately.
Evan begins to tell Hank about how he got shot but changes his mind at the last minute. Evan then tells Hank that Emily has stolen Jake as a patient.
Hank confronts Emily about stealing Jake as a client. She doesn't really apologize, saying she's competitive and that Jamie was worried Hank was too chummy with Blair. During the conversation she unbuttons her shirt and, using sex as a tool, starts fooling around on the couch with Hank.
Paige brings Evan payment for lunch and for hunting with her parents. He tells her he no longer wants to take her money, which leads to her asking him out on a real date, for dinner. Who's buying? He is. He's okay with that.
On the way to see Jim, Jill tells Hank she wants them to move forward and that Emily volunteered for the clinic. Jim's liver test numbers are spectacular and his ankle has completely healed. The interferon has worked well on his hepatitis. Jim's family arrives and thanks Hank.
Leaving Jim's boat, Jill sees writing on the back of Hank's neck - POE. Property of Evan? Jill thinks it means someone else. The happy mood evaporates.
