Jon Hamm in Mad Men (2007)

Goofs

The Chrysanthemum and the Sword

Mad Men

Edit

Continuity

When Betty is discussing Sally's behavior with Doctor Edna, her pearls switch from being on top of her outfit, to having the right side tucked under her neckline, then back to on top of her outfit again.

Factual errors

When Roger, in his office, still angry about the company attempting to do business with a Japanese company, is talking to Joan, he relates briefly about his time on a U.S. Navy ship, a destroyer. He starts talking about "a young PFC" (private first class). This rank does not exist in the U.S. Navy. Also, while some Navy ships had a Marine Corps contingent aboard (This rank does exist in the USMC), destroyers did not.

Anachronisms

When Donald drops off Sally and Bobby with Betty and Henry, the song titled "In The Shadow of The Valley" by the Lost Weekend Western Swing Band is playing softly in the background. Although this takes place in 1965, this version of the song was not recorded until 1998. Not to mention that The Lost Weekend Western Swing Band wasn't formed until 1985.
A hardback copy of the book "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword" is seen at various points throughout the episode. The episode is taking place in March of 1965, but the book was only available in paperback at that time; a hardback edition was first issued in 1967.
