Goofs

My Bad

Dexter

Edit

Continuity

Although following directly the previous events, Quinn (Desmond Harrington) looks like he lost quite a few pounds and his haircut looks different. Debra's hair is also longer.
When Dexter finds Rita in the tub, her head is facing left. In the next scene, her head is facing right.
When Deb crouches down in front of Dexter, he hands her the baby and turns it so that Deb reaches for the baby at a 90 degree angle. In the next shot Deb is seen taking the baby and has his back fully turned towards her.
When Masuka examines Rita's body, he states that she's in full rigor mortis. At the time Rita's arms are leaning on the edge of the bath and her back is curved. However, when she's transported in a body bag on gurney to the waiting ambulance, Rita's body lies flat, and her arms are next to her. If her body were in full rigor mortis, the coroner or police mortician would have had to manipulate/rearrange Rita's body with brute force.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

If a person is killed, the funeral director would not be seen so quickly, especially in a murder investigation and without other immediate members of the family having been notified. The funeral also wouldn't occur so quickly.

Debra specifically said she had gone to a police funeral mortician to speed things up.
Rita's skin color is much too pink as a corpse, especially since she died from complete exsanguination. The skin should be pale gray.

Funeral cosmetology, applying life-like makeup to grayish corpses, relieves the mourners from having a ghoulish image to remember.
