'Phineas and Ferb' was so good in helping me through many tough periods during its run. Still do get a lot of pleasure out of watching re-runs of what was, when airing, one of the few shows on the Disney Channel regularly worth watching. Admittedly the later episodes are not quite on the same level as the more creative earlier seasons, but 'Phineas and Ferb' at its weakest still managed generally to be better than a lot of animated shows recently at their best.

Neither "Just Passing Through" and "Candace's Big Day" show 'Phineas and Ferb' at its best. Neither are bad episodes, a long way from that, and both of them are actually worth watching enough. They are just missing the extra something that make the show so great when on peak form. Of the two, "Just Passing Through" is the better episode, with it having the better and more inventive main plot and is a little more consistent whereas "Candace's Big Day" has one plot working better than the other.

Both are pretty formulaic and even though "Just Passing Through" is inventive in its main plot when it comes to 'Phineas and Ferb' in general it is not as creative as other episodes. "Candace's Big Day" is charming and amusing enough, but could have had tighter energy and is at times sitcom-ish.

There have also been a lot more inspired Doofenschmirtz subplots in other episodes before and since. That for "Candace's Big Day" for my tastes was not very tasteful and quite sensitive territory.

However, the animation is vibrant and meticulous and the music has a lot of character and energy. Still absolutely love the theme song, which is one of Disney's catchiest of all their modern shows. The writing is witty, intelligent and never less than very amusing in particularly "Just Passing Through".

While Doofenschmirtz is not on the top of his game here he does have some fun lines here and great interaction with Perry (still love the character). The character writing is very strong as usual, as is the interaction. Can relate to Candace with her hair. Can't fault the voice acting.

In conclusion, decent but not great and that is the case with both episodes. 7/10.
