Joe and Lisa Vannatta are credited with saving the film production from failure as they provided their own horses and ranch to film with, as previously scheduled horse wranglers dropped out of the film minutes before call time.
Filmed on location in Austin Texas. Half the production crew was from Iowa, while the rest are local to Texas.
A Kickstarter was started in early 2021 to raise money for the trip. After a slow start, they completed the $3,000 goal with only a few hours left to spare.
Demian Alan Mancino trained with horses for a few months prior to production to feel comfortable and look as if he had been riding his whole life.
Producer Aaron Bandy had the idea for a western while visiting director Arik Hess in College Station for a weekend in 2020. After discussions with writer Ben Matthews, it was decided to adapt the "Big Iron" song as no other form of film had been done on the classic song before.
