James Gandolfini and Tom Hardy in The Drop (2014)

Goofs

The Drop

Edit

Continuity

When Bob is pouring Eric a drink his hand changes position on the bottle with each camera angle.
When Chovka is talking to Bob and Cousin Marv following the robbery, a spike is shown sticking out of the bottom of the van. As the van starts to drive away, the spike is missing.
At 1:02:30, after Bob says goodnight to Nadia, he is seen walking away from the camera with the fence to his left and the street to his right. In the next seen he is seen walking towards the camera with the fence to his right and the street to his left.
During the conversation between the homicide detective and Bob at the water front, Bob first holds the puppy in one hand, and in the next shot in both hands.

Factual errors

(at around 1h 34 mins) The member of Chovka gang speaks Russian, not Chechen as indicated in subtitles.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

At the movies end Bob and Nadia are in Nadia's front yard. It's right after the Super Bowl, which is usually at the end of January, but the forsythia is clearly in bloom which happens in the spring.

Showing forsythia in bloom was intentional and intended to alert the viewers that several months had passed.
When Bob is sitting in the basement with the dog you can see the gas meter to the upper left and the oil tank to the left. It is explained what the oil tank is for, but many homes have both because oil tanks are expensive to remove.

Plot holes

Character error

When Bob checks Eric's gun, he removes the magazine, looks at it, and then puts it back in the gun. He never clears the chamber. The gun is still loaded (unless the magazine was actually empty and the gun was never loaded; but that still doesn't excuse an experienced criminal, like Bob, from not checking the chamber).
