- Sheldon battles President Hagemeyer's mysterious boss over the university's science requirements; Mary discovers that Georgie is working at Meemaw's illegal gambling room.
- East Texas Tech has decided to reduce the general-ed science requirement from 8 credits to 4 credits, which Sheldon strongly opposes. Sheldon talks to Dr. Linkletter, but he isn't helpful. Sheldon then decides to talk directly to President Hagemeyer, who says that she opposes lowering the requirements, but can't do anything because the "Grand Chancellor" won't let her.
Sheldon then decides to try to get students to sign a petition to reinstate the 8-credit requirement, but is unsuccessful. He then writes an article for the campus newspaper explaining his position, but after the editor decides not to run it, Sheldon finds out that the "Grand Chancellor" isn't a real person. Sheldon confronts President Hagemeyer, who openly admits that she lied and that she feels no remorse for it. Sheldon then decides to start referring to Hagemeyer as "Hage-liar" and to start lying to her.
When George Sr. picks Sheldon up from school, Sheldon is still mad at President Hagemeyer for lying. George tells Sheldon that he shouldn't believe everything he hears. Sheldon then realizes that nearly everyone lies, and starts to doubt whether he can believe anything anymore.
Meanwhile, Mary finds out about the secret casino that Connie runs and Georgie works at, and is furious that Georgie is engaging in a sinful activity. George Sr. won't do anything about it, since he and Mary couldn't convince Georgie not to drop out of school. Missy thinks that it's really cool, annoying Mary even more. Mary goes directly to Georgie to confront him about it, but to no avail.
Mary talks to Pastor Jeff about what Georgie is doing, and Jeff admits that he did the same thing when he was Georgie's age, even though his father was a pastor.
Mary and Sheldon then run into each other in the backyard, and they each express how much they love the fact that the other one is honest and doesn't lie.
At the end, George Sr. goes to the secret casino, promising not to tell Mary that he was there. Also, President Hagemeyer receives a phone call from Stephen Hawking, who said that Sheldon sent him a letter about her behavior; Hawking appears to take Sheldon's side in the dispute.
