Fred Olen Ray is keeping his lights on by directing this silly Frankenstein spoof about a reanimated corpse (the statuesque and stunning porn actress Jayden Cole, primarily known for her lesbian hardcore work) brought back to life by the shunned scientist Victor Frankenstein (the hunky Frankie Cullen, perhaps the most miscast Frankenstein ever conceived) who was sent packing from America to his castle in Transylvania because he was screwing the dean's daughter in the classroom!
Yep, I imagine Mary Shelley was rolling over in her grave once this film was presented for late night Cinemax television. Brandin Rackley steals the film as Victor's Transylvanian "lab assistant", playing off of Terri Garr's character from "Young Frankenstein" (her accent while in the throes of passion with Victor really had me going, that's for sure), a dim-bulb ditz who hadn't really set foot in Frankenstein's lab prior to giving life to the undead body of "Eve" (Cole's given name via Frankenstein). At first not showing signs of life, Eve is considered another set back in Frankenstein's ultimate goal of successfully bringing the dead back to life, but what he doesn't know is that she is in fact alive—as evident when Ingrid (Rackley) is kissed on the mouth by a rejuvenated Eve before the two women engage in sex!
Anyway, Frankenstein is told by Ingrid that he has did it and so the scientist decides to head back to America to gloat in the faces of Professor Van Sloane (Ted Newsom), his rival Clive (Billy Chappell, a softcore regular of the Busty Cops films, among other Cinemax midnight porn), and Dr. Waldman (Ron Ford) who all considered him an embarrassment to the college. Fact is that Clive just wanted all the girls and Frankenstein was in the way of his total conquest of the female species!
Essentially, "Bikini Frankenstein" is all about the sex. There are plenty of quality Frankenstein films out there and this movie is a titillating diversion with gorgeous women and studly men shagging to their hearts content. My favorite sex scene, no surprise here, is between Rackley and Cole, but I love Brandin's work with men and women because she shows an enjoyment and bliss whenever she is in bed with a lover. Christine Nguyen, one of my favorite softcore workers (not necessarily from an acting standpoint, although she can really play a seductive heel when the part is right), has a smaller part than usual as Clive's assistant, Claudia. Claudia is told by Clive to fish information from Frankenstein about the successful experiment he plans to unveil to them (Frankenstein doesn't elaborate right away that Eve is the experiment, wanting to surprise his colleagues when the time is right) so the two obviously have sex when heading back to his hotel room. The film even has Clive getting Eve off in his "lab" (which looks like a fax room) with the two getting it on practically once they enter the room.
I love the dog collar Eve wears (Frankenstein has this on her so he can keep her under his control), well mainly because for some reason it is a turn on for me. I imagine that was the point from the beginning—perhaps a kinky joke, but one that I found considerably hot.
The movie's poster disturbingly resembles a Hammer film, "Revenge of Frankenstein", but the two couldn't be more different. Olen Ray, I have to admit, shoots sex scenes well, not allowing too much explicitness, yet providing enough for the audience for which "Bikini Frankenstein" is intended. Cole is a porn worker I will be keeping an eye on, her tall figure is impressive, especially barely covered in fabrics (more like scraps to just cover up her goodies), lying on Frankenstein's lab table.
