Summaries

  • Liz can't get anyone to give her a ride home from her oral surgery, which is scheduled for Valentine's Day. Meanwhile, Jack goes out on a date with a sexy, smart journalist, and Jenna discovers that her stalker has moved on.

Synopsis

  • Open with Pete's daughter trying to sell Liz some Valentine's Day cookies. This leads to Liz detailing how awful the holiday has been for her, although she does end up buying a few.

Jack is going on a MSNBC show. He tells Liz he has Valentines' plans, because "I could use a win." He has three dates across the city and has a system from moving to each women if he doesn't like them. Liz is going to have a root canal, followed by a made-for-TV movie.

Jenna tells Kenneth and Tracy that this holiday is important for her and her stalker, Maynard Roger Hoynes. She concerned that since she hasn't yet heard from Maynard he might be moving on to a different celebrity.

Lutz tells the gang his girlfriend is going to be visiting. Nobody thinks she's real. Toofer is worried that his blind date is black. The office doing Liz' surgery wants to know who is picking her up after the canal.

During Jack's appearance on "Hot Box" he seems to bond with the conservative host, Avery Jessup (Elizabeth Banks).

Liz keeps getting turned down for a ride home from her surgery. Tracy and Jenna say no, the latter because she's going to contact Maynard and see what's wrong. Kenneth is also a 'no,' as is one of the custodians.

Jenna finds Maynard at the fast food restaurant where he works. He tells her he's on meds and doesn't think he can stalk her anymore. She is very upset.

Jack and Avery have drinks. Jonathan calls with his first excuse of the evening and Jack tells him in code that it's going well. She picks up on it immediately and leaves.

Frank tells Liz he can't give her a ride either -- he and a cleaning lady are going to eat perigees at her husband's grave. He makes fun of her for her Valentine's plan falling through.

Jack tells Liz that Avery has sent word she's still interested in him. Liz still can't find a ride. Jack has invited Avery to the show to join him in the fictitious VIP Lounge. Jack has Liz get Jon Bon Jovi (NBC's 'Artist in Residence') to help create the effect.

Jenna is wistfully reflecting on her stalker relationship with Maynard. She shows Kenneth some of the first letters he sent her. Jenna tells Kenneth that Maynard is the longest relationship she's ever had.

Liz calls the doctor's office and tells her she can't find anybody to pick her up. The woman says that it's okay as long as she signs a release.

Before signing the doctor's office release, Bon Jovi suggests she read it first. He asks about her not having not anyone to help with her on Valentine's Day. She rips up the document and tells him she'll lie about a boyfriend coming to pick her up and then make a break for it afterwards. Avery and Jack leave the show together arm-in-arm.

Liz tells the nurse her boyfriend (Astronaut Mike Dexter) will be picking her up.

Jenna stares at Maynard through the window of his work and remembers all the highlights of his stalking: Sending pictures of her while she was asleep, stealing a lock of her hair, etc.

After surgery Liz comes to the waiting room and finds ex-boyfriends Floyd, Dennis and Drew all waiting for her. She's tell them she will find love some day and we realize that Liz is actually imagining the men and speaking to three African-American nurses. Liz then thinks a shrub in the waiting room is Bon Jovi.

Avery spends the night with Jack. The next morning she tells Jack that men like him don't want families but are perfect for one-nighters. His phone rings with Liz needing a ride home from surgery.

Jenna finds "I WANT YOU TO EAT YOUR BOOGERS" scribbled on her dressing room wall. Kenneth did it, but Jenna appreciates the effort.

Jack and Avery bring Liz home. Avery is impressed that picking up Liz wasn't another lie from his assistant or fake VIP Lounge. A still-drugged Liz tells Avery that Jack "is the best one. I don't know what I would do without him."
