Filmed at the Fall 2009 "Living with Epilepsy" Panel Discussions by Neurological Experts in Palo Alto, CA, with full permission of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, who organized the event.
This documentary had literally a one-man crew, so Director Garett Thomas found a way to bring a tripod inside a lawn chair bag with a shoulder strap so that he could carry the camera bag simultaneously. This carrying method of equipment was used throughout the day of the epilepsy conference, including boarding public transportation (a SamTrans bus) to get there.
First televised in 2009 on Pen TV (Peninsula Television, Cable Channel 26) in San Mateo County, California.
The design of the title animation has three significances. First, the words travel on a path to a destination, as if on a journey. Second, the letters themselves quiver, to suggest a seizure. Finally, the vividly changing color pattern resembles a visual aura experienced by some epileptics.
