Jeremy Irons, Holliday Grainger, and François Arnaud in The Borgias (2011)

Goofs

The Borgias

Edit

Factual errors

Caterina Sforza's eldest son's name was Ottaviano, not Benito. None of her sons were named Benito; in fact, Benito is not even an Italian name, but Spanish. The most prominent Italian named Benito, Benito Mussolini, was named after Mexican president Benito Juarez.
The Pope never crowned Charles VIII as the King of Naples; on the contrary, he refused to do it.
Juan Borgia never laid siege to the city of Forli.
Maciavelli didn't serve for the Medicis. His political career began later, when Florentines were led to exile the Medicis and to establish a republican government.
Cesare didn't kill Giovanni Sforza nor Ludovico Sforza nor Prospero Colonna. All these men died a natural death.

Miscellaneous

The daggers and swords all look like overgrown letter openers. They have no edge and wouldn't cut soft butter.

Anachronisms

Christopher Columbus departed on his first voyage in 1492, the same year as Rodrigo Borgia's election to Pope. No one would or could be speaking of the New World yet.

Character error

Cardinal Versucci, Cardinal Petrucci, Cardinal de Luca, Ursula Bonadeo, Bianca Gonzaga, and others never existed in real history.
There was no woman named Bianca Gonzaga, Marquess of Mantua. Francesco Gonzaga's wife was the famous Isabella d'Este (from the powerful Ferrara ducal family), patron of the arts and leader of fashion, whose style of dressing was copied by women.
