Aesthetic Over Story
iknafilms10 May 2023
Burqa's greatest strength lies in its respectful treatment of all religions, as it raises valid questions about blindly accepted practices. Additionally, the casting and single-location cinematography bring a unique freshness to the film. However, the film's dialogue can at times feel superficial, and the director's style often overshadows the depth of the story. It seems as though the director was more interested in creating aesthetically pleasing visuals than in telling a compelling story, which can make the film feel dull at times. Overall, while Burqa has its flaws, it still manages to provide thought-provoking commentary on religion and society.

A girl with so many restriction on her life:
pravinrubika11 April 2023
From the first screenplay we can know that the girl was being alone and seems to be too bored and worried . She was a Muslim girl especially a very orthodox towards her religious believe and practices .One day when she was alone a stranger knocks her house and asks for a help with a barely wound. She was afraid first and then to respect humanism she helps him to cure the wounds ( she was nurse). The stranger who is the main role asks her about her past. And in her past her husband had died in one week of time. And she is now in iddah( religious practice done for 4 months ). The stranger asks her questions that all against of her beliefs and practices.

"burqa" is a debate, but not enough to get me engaged.

"burqa" is a debate, but not enough to get me engaged.

What i liked about this movie is the amazing cinematography, the whole movie happens in a house mostly and the cinematographer has included so many shots to avoid a sense of repetition and the shots were so nice. Both the actors gave decent performance. This movie kind of reminded me of the Malayalam movie "kuruthi", completely different plots, but gives a similar vibe.

The issue is that the conversations didn't feel engaging enough to keep me invested. At some points it was interesting but after a point it felt a bit lagging as there were no escalation of events to keep me hooked in.

Another Islam hate movie
jiff-6710017 April 2023
India and its movies are so focused on approving movies with no research and directly attacking the individual communities as always.

Taking the fake news to the society and creating misconception is the new normal and nobody can really talk against it.

People create these type of movies are focusing on the Islam haters. More it talks bad about Islam, there will always be a group of people to appreciate such movies and make them rich.

There is a Youtube video explaining the concept clearly. I want the directors and the actors to go watch that and understand that before doing something against a community.

Yet another propaganda movie on Muslims/Islam
jhulfikaralimisc24 April 2023
Often these so-called Directors push their propaganda with no groundwork. When you pick a subject, it's fundamental to talk to subject experts and present facts, not fake news. The worst thing is painting a picture of religion with one/few tiny incidents.

They should try to earn money by directing and producing movies that help society instead of breaking them. Good news reporters should call out these people/films instead of just riding on it for more readership (money in the end).

This half-baked knowledge leads youngsters to hate a group of people or religion in the long run, and I suspect that is the intention of these directors/producers. Reading through the comments below proves that this is what happens when people do not spend 15 minutes reading fact but spends 2-3 hours on propaganda movie and believe that is the truth.

This trend started in the 90s in Tamil and is better explained by Jeeva Today in YouTube if you have that 15 minutes to know the truth.

Nice actor
deeakkumar-4113615 April 2023
It's my all time favourite action comedy movies...I simply cannot understand why this movie is rated so low. Yes, the first half an hour seemed long and slow but this prepares for the dark twists later in the wow very popular plot. This film caters for an audience who are bored of generic horror stories consisting of ghostly beings, ghastly creatures and god-awful storylines. It caters for those who are craving new ideas, new plots and new storiebs. Once past the rather slow beginning, I was on the edge of my seat for the rest of the film. I highly recommend to anyone who loves twisted horror.

Another no logic movie
mohamedafzal-2594222 July 2023
First of all the director has to understand the rules and regulations of religion. Whatever he shows in this movie is wrong. First they have to understand what religion is saying. Worst movie and logic I ever watch in recent days. Failed to understand what hero and heroine doing. She asked her husband 1 week to understand each other but she is loving this hero within a day. There is no logic in this movie. Humble request to the director, First understand everything before taking a movie script. Don't spoil any religion by taking this kind of worst movie. I'm not talking only for Muslims, even if u take anyother movie from any other religion concept please understand the things properly and take.

Best screening
kumar-amit-vishal15 April 2023
Do a favour to me and go and watch this movie. I wanted to see it right from watching the trailer. Was feeling a bit disappointed when I thought the movie was following a " Same old same old " direction. Then it went scattershot in all kinds of F'd up. Not usually left feeling like I saw something new but this time is different..I've seen tons of thriller movies, but this one -- I can't stand not giving a review. There's a twist in every twist! It's just super genius how a movie could be so detailed and twisted in a way It's my all time favourite action comedy movies...I simply cannot understand why this movie is rated so low. I highly recommend to anyone who loves twisted horror. Every scene and each and every shot is beautifully done in this movie...I had my doubts to watch this film but I'm glad I did... it will keep you entertained from beginning to the end with shocking surprises! Highly recommend if you love a good thriller. Came here to do my first movie review solely because of how good this movie was..seriously a lot of unexpected events & super suspenseful! Best thriller in a long time. Totally unexpected storyline when I was ready for ghosts and demons. Very good twists and kept you guessing until the very end!

An anti-Islam movie, but poor quality resulted low effect.
wxhooong21 June 2023
Why it's so agonizing for the protagonist to go without seeing a man for four months after her husband's death. Marriage is also a choice made by the female lead, and according to the script, she has survival skills and can live in areas where she doesn't have to follow Islamic rules. She chose to get married and was happy about it at the time. She didn't object to religion when she got married, so why is she now against it just because she likes the male lead?

Why the plot has to arrange for the female lead to fall in love with the male lead. In this free world of the West, can't men and women just be friends? To directly attack the core of religion, the female lead needs to be truly forced and oppressed by religion. There doesn't need to be mutual attraction between the male and female leads to show the oppression of the female lead by religion. However, the current plot is that the female lead falls in love with the male lead at first sight, and then starts to rebel against religion because she can't stand being lonely for just one month, after the death of her husband.

"Education...you think that transforms people? Impossible" What a bad line, what bad intentions.

We looooved Burqa!!
ngandacinema10 April 2023
We looooved Burqa! It was short, focused, and so powerful; a proof that less is more and quality is better than quantity

DELICIOUS

-So many amazing things to say about Burqa that we don't even know where to start from, it was honestly an abundance of freshness after viewing a number of masala movies lately. We always root for 'less is more' and Burqa was an efficient use of little resources to deliver a dynamic film: there were 4 main characters and 2 locations.

Burqa was captivating due to its solid screenplay that defied the status quo, raised pertinent questions, and increased the suspense

-What should we say to the director, cinematographer, and music composer? THANK YOUUU👏🏾👏🏾

Impeccable work from start to finish, each frame and score were carefully designed to plunge us into the story and gradually build up the momentum so we could know Najma's and Surya's deeper feelings and personalities

-It was a smart choice on the characters' names: Surya (meaning 'sun') was definitely the light that brightened up Najma's darkness and Najma (meaning 'star') was destined to soar high and aspire for greatness in life

-Acting was flawless, Mirnaa was able to convey anger, happiness, and groans behind her veil; kudos to Kalaiyarasan and Suriyanarayanan for depicting courteous and gentle spirits

-Some movies are made to entertain while others to impact and Burqa belongs to the latter category. The dialogues spoke power and encouragement to rise from above subjugation.
