This horror film is less scary than humorous and clever, highlighting discrimination, affirmative action, and workplace dynamics...

Warning: Spoilers
I was lucky enough to get this short film on DVD in 04 or 05. I recommend trying to get a copy, but it is on YouTube (with a slightly distracting audio lag which does not exist on the DVD).

As the ending credits indicate, this film was made as part of a national film competition. In this case, the filmmakers have 48 hours after finding out which genre they must compete in and which elements must be included (such as random items, dialogue lines, etc.) to start, complete, and submit their film. I try to see as many submissions as possible because this kind of pressure exposes artists' true abilities.

"Job Huntin" ended up taking the top prize for horror that year which is a travesty. This film is a sardonic comedy with relevant sociopolitical overtones. The movie highlights discrimination, affirmative action, and the resulting workplace dynamics with such well-written and well-acted sarcasm and humor. This should have won for comedy. After looking into this group (the CMH Project) a little further, it seems they favor comedy strewn with innuendo. They were clever enough to make the main character a zombie in order to showcase what they are best at and comply with their instructions.

I grudgingly watched this one because horror is not particularly my favorite and I was thrilled to find the beginnings of what will likely be a well known group of comedic writers, filmmakers, and actors.

I'm holding back one star because it's only ten minutes long and I would like to know more about Jay's future career and whether he and Jose end up as BFFs... NB: Fantastic soundtrack
