Interesting story
okpilak8 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Technically, the movie was OK, and the opening credits were unique, since it was not only the actor, but their role which was indicated. Richard Gates is excited to be able to market this 1870 building, where after much discussion among the heirs, a sell order was given to convert it into condos. The snag is Kate, a 10 year tenant, who does not want to move. He says he can offer her a great deal to move out, so Kate decides to play the seductress, drugs him (a little too obvious with a fizzing pill in the shot glass.....) and he wakes up chained in a brick cell. But Kate forgot to take his phone, so he gets a call out before she realizes it, and one was to his grandmother, who then starts searching for him. And Kate slips up, and calls him James, which leads to why she doesn't want to leave. Despite what was shown in the end credits, for me it seemed like too much of the movie was first takes and little or no rehearsal. And that sense took so much away for me in enjoying this movie. It is not like in some low budget movies, where they show a total lack of talent and skill. Because the movie did not look sloppy. But towards the end there were some terrible plot holes that didn't have to be there because I don't think what happened was possible. But to explain would give spoilers.

Entertaining & Psycho!
larrystanley-216 May 2023
Watch out Indie Film World there is a new power couple on the scene! Real life husband and wife Andy Bowles and Faith Stanek show incredible chemistry in this thriller! With all the twist and turns the story moves quickly and smoothly. Dungeon is full of tense climactic building moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Bowles delivers an amazing performances showing off his acting chops and displaying a wide range of emotions. Stanek portrays a psycho better than Amber Heard could have (great casting). Add in the exceptional cinematography and Dungeon is by far my favorite indie of 2023! 10 out of 10 Stars! Overall a fun thriller!

Nice mix of suspense & fun
xpgvby16 May 2023
I enjoyed this film, it starts out lighthearted and then you see the turn! It had A lot of twists and turns I didn't expect but pleasantly surprised. I like the way it went back and forth between the scary moments & the lighter moments. It kept me guessing the whole way through. A few laughs from the barber character I always love a little comic relief in a every movie. I enjoyed the lead characters. The music in this film felt really perfect and made each scene more intense. I will likely watch this again and recommend it. Not too scary, not bloody, but defiantly keeps your attention w/ some nice shockers.

Amateur film
DarianFisher3 April 2024
I know this was low budget and they tried their hardest to put together a good film, but it was just not very good. The sound quality was subpar, the acting was subpar, the editing was way subpar and it just reminded me of a student film.

The storyline was okay but feel like it's been done before. I hate to say it but I don't see how this is anything better than a 2 star movie and the only way people are giving it 9 or 10 stars is if they either worked on the movie or had some connection to the movie. Just a waste of an hour in my opinion for something marketed as an award winning film. If they spend more than $5k on this film, it was a bust.

What A Fun Film!!!
SmootheMoves17 May 2023
I'm thrilled to write a review on DUNGEON. I just finished watching it on Tubi.tv and it kept me entertained throughout. I have seen Andy Bowles in other independent films but I would have to say DUNGEON is his best. It was just fun! It had a great start. Right after we are introduced to the characters and get an understanding for who they are the story switches. Taking us into what I would say was probably one of my more enjoyable movie experiences because it is just that much fun to see. It's a great idea for a film, the cinematography was beautifully captured, the story is entertaining to say the least. I could totally see a sequel being made in the future. Well Done!!!!

Warning... this is not what you are led to believe...
Mark-hardy701 April 2024
Is this a fully formed horror movie with believable actors, effective cinematography and a plot that makes any sense whatsoever? Absolutely not!

What it is, is an am-dram horror spoof (deliberate or not) with the production values of a film like the 'The Disaster Artist'.

Entertaining enough for 65 minutes, but not remotely what the scores and the synopsis suggest you're going to get.

Be aware what to expect and you may be mildly entertained by a vaguely entertaining melange of ideas, clumsily put together and acted in (if I'm being kind) a naturalistic style. Even, if it leaves you baffled at the end.

If not, you're likely it be mightily disappointed by a film that does not meet its brief or match the scores its currently achieving...

Dungeon is very entertaining!!!
APBProductions5 May 2023
It's a fun award-winning thriller. Made in the heart of Hoboken, New Jersey. You see the iconic city as you enjoy the suspense. Faith Stanek as 'Kate' really gives an actual portrayal of a true psychopath. Sheilagh Weymouth breaks through barriers as 'Grandma', a no-nonsense grandmother out to find her grandson at whatever the risk. Victoria Meade is great as the sleep deprived 'Detective Marsh' on the hunt for the missing people of Hoboken. Sheldon J Nicholas Jr. Brings an innocence to 'James Madison' that we watch fade as circumstances affect him to make choices no one should have to make. Maggie Wagner brings a sophisticated style as the 'Potential home buyer'. Jett Miller is the perfectly funny comic relief as the 'Barber at the building'. Tara Troy's performance is excellent as the 'barber on the street' who just can't seem to take her break without answering questions. Israel Caraballo Jr. Really shines with genuine concern as the 'Chief of Police' worried for his detective. Terralon Walker portrayed the perfect business professional as the 'Realtor'. With all of the great performances to bounce off of in the film, it's easy to see how Andy Bowles gave the level of performance he did as 'Richard Gates'. Which won Andy the 'Best Actor award' for Dungeon as well as the 'Best Feature: Thiller / Horror award' at the 24th annual Bare Bones Internation Film and Music Festival 2023. Which is true acknowledgement of entire cast performance value. Worth watching!!!

Dungeon is a gripping murder mystery that will keep you enthralled from start to finish. With its compelling plot, brilliant performances, and atmospheric cinematography, the film stands out as a captivating addition to the genre.

While this film does skillfully maintains its suspense, some viewers may find certain plot elements predictable. However, this doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the film, as the captivating storytelling and strong performances more than compensate for any minor shortcomings.

If you're a fan of well-crafted mysteries that challenge your detective skills, this is a must-watch that will leave you eagerly speculating until the final revelation.

Firstly, I loved that they shot this in my hometown in NJ. The script is well written with nothing over the top as it just seemed almost too real. A really talented cast with the writer, director and main star all in one. Andy Bowles's has got some real skills. Shows that you don't need much to make a film, just some real passion, a well made hook to a storyline and the right actors. The ending wasn't predictable and has potential to even make it into a tv series or even a part two. Loved everything about this and I might just watch this again just in-case i missed something. A clever thriller film. Kudos to everyone involved, you have a fan!

Thriller fans watch this
ericsmitthy45 August 2023
I'm a big fan of murder crime investigation thriller, I've seen almost most of the movies out there, I wanted movie to keep me and this movie does a fantastic job in that area. Good character building and it's not what it first seems at all in the end. I urge everyone to see this movie. Everything in this movie is fantastic, The plot is excellent, and the movie only focuses on the plot and the plot only no over the top moments-so if you like thriller and suspense movies, this is the ideal movie for you people. Each character fully commits to their duties; there is no overacting. Excellent work.

A well crafted mystery film
mangosteen5515 July 2023
If your looking for a real mystery film this is it. Other filmmakers take note. This is how you make a film without dragging out the plot all the way to the end. Dungeon starts of understanding the main characters and as we progress we really get to see things unfold. The main lead who plays Richard is super talented and had so much passion and realism in his acting, he made it that much more convincing as that was important in a film like this. Everything else seem to gel well with the twists as we get to witness Richard Gates fight for his life. There's plenty of things going on in this film but it's all connected. Great filmmaking, well done!

Dungeon is an enthralling film that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Directed with skillful precision, the movie delivers a gripping narrative filled with twists, red herrings, and a web of intriguing characters, making it an engaging and satisfying experience for fans of the genre. In addition to its engaging mystery, the film delves into the psychology of the characters, exploring their motivations, fears, and past secrets. This character-driven approach adds depth to the story, making it more than just a conventional murder mystery. Full credit to the director who wrote, directed and acted in this.

A real winner
alexisaei-468801 September 2023
I've had the pleasure of watching Andy Bowles in several independent films, but I must say that "DUNGEON" stands out as his best work. It was an absolute blast! The movie had an excellent beginning. Just as we were introduced to the characters and began to understand them, the story took a thrilling turn, making it one of my most enjoyable cinematic experiences. It's a fantastic concept for a film, with breathtaking cinematography and an entertaining storyline, to say the least. I can easily envision a sequel being produced in the future. Outstanding job! I haven't found Tubi to be particularly enjoyable for watching smaller budget films, but "Dungeon" has rekindled my belief in the world of independent cinema.

It gets intense
jamealove2 August 2023
Very very very awesome. One of my 2023 favorites. I watched the trailer and didn't have high hopes for it. The trailer does not do the film any justice. My wife and I started watching it and was instantly hooked. If i had to describe Dungeon I would say it's like a tightly woven bit of fabric, with the threads looping in and out, every which way. I absolutely LOVED the thriller twist at the end! I'm still thinking through the layers of it all and will DEFINITELY watch it again now knowing how it ends. I highly recommend this to all mystery, thriller fans that are into well structured films like this.

A must watch
d-ramseeey16 July 2023
The title of the film says it all. Dungeon. A clever and witty film about a real estate broker who finds himself a victim of an unusual circumstance with a tenant. This is when things get really interesting. From here on the plot intensifies as the detective gets on the case and other situations and findings start to unravel. I'm usually good at guessing what might happen next but this wasn't predictable at all and there's plenty of surprising moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. Tubi hasn't been that great to watch smaller budget films i feel like but Dungeon has restored my faith in independent films.

Seriously good
cynvanity15 July 2023
This actually turned out great. Lots of plot twists with a solid storyline that had me glued to the screen right to the very end. Tubi recommended this to me and I wasn't expecting much but this is for sure one of the better mystery, thriller indie films out on there to date. The progression is on point, characters don't feel way over the top, the audio mix feels like you're there with the characters as the storyline thickens. An award winning film that deserves the recognition it rightfully deserves. I'm not going to give away the ending but I'm hoping for a sequel. Congrats to everyone involved and I'll be sure to re-watch this again. I'll give this a 9.

Award Winning Thriller
realskidrow17 July 2023
Excellent movie! I stopped at a friends place who was watching it and within minutes I was hooked. I was late getting home because of this movie. Never given 10 stars before, but this was well worth it and all the smart curveballs thrown at us throughout the movie was entertaining too. Certainly recommended this movie if you enjoy, mystery, thriller, psychological innovative plots. I hope they get more eyesballs for this film and they win more awards. Dungeon is a solid movie by the director who also plays the main lead. I don't even remember the last small budget film i seen to the end but this one I weren't forget.

Seen it on Tubi
tonytripleogg17 August 2023
I found this film on Tubi today and it was surprisingly good. It started of a little lighthearted but then takes on an unexpected twist. The abundance of surprising twists and turns really did catch me off guard. I appreciated the seamless transitions between tense and lighter moments, which kept me engaged and guessing throughout. The comedic elements were also well integrated especially from the barber character, those scenes really gave me a few laughs, offering a well-needed touch of comic relief.

The lead characters were compelling and well-portrayed, drawing me into the storyline. The film's music effectively heightened the intensity of each scene, adding to the overall experience. Given its balanced approach-neither excessively frightening nor gory-it managed to maintain my attention. Well done.

I wasn't entirely certain about what to anticipate. This movie had remained relatively obscure in my awareness, but upon discovering its inclusion in Tubi's list of top films, my curiosity was instantly piqued, compelling me to delve into its storyline. As it turns out, this film is an engaging thriller. Crafted within the heart of Hoboken, New Jersey, it offers both the thrill of suspense and the enjoyment of an award-winning creation. The iconic cityscape of Hoboken serves as a backdrop, enhancing the viewing experience.

Commencing with a sense of lightness, the movie soon takes an unexpected twist. The narrative unravels with numerous unforeseen intricacies, which pleasantly caught me off guard. The alternating rhythm between moments of tension and moments of levity, skillfully interwoven, contributed to my overall appreciation. The consistent back-and-forth structure kept me engaged, as it presented an array of eerie sequences and lighter interludes. Throughout the film, I found myself consistently engrossed, my mind challenged to predict the unfolding events. It's a must watch from me.

Dungeon really is a captivating murder mystery that will engross you from beginning to end. Through its intriguing storyline, outstanding acting, and evocative cinematography, the movie distinguishes itself as an enthralling contribution to its genre. There's a reason why this film has won so many awards.

While the film adeptly maintains its suspense, a few viewers might anticipate certain plot elements. Nevertheless, this does not diminish the overall film experience, given that the absorbing narrative and powerful performances outweigh any slight drawbacks.

For enthusiasts of finely-crafted mysteries that test your investigative prowess, this is an essential watch that will keep you eagerly theorizing until the ultimate revelation.

The dungeon is replete with gripping and climactic moments that will undoubtedly keep you perched at the edge of your seat. Bowles delivers a remarkable performance, showcasing his acting skills and expressing a diverse array of emotions. The main characters proved to be engaging and skillfully depicted, immersing me in the narrative. The film's music adeptly amplified the tension in every scene, contributing to the overall immersion. With its well-judged approach-avoiding excessive horror or gore-it succeeded in holding my focus. Commendable work and complete recognition goes to the director who penned the script, took on the directorial role, and also acted in the production.

Wait a sec... this is good!!!
GeekGirlPower10 January 2024
At first, I wondered why the film was only 65 minutes, then I saw that it was an indie film, so I naturally assumed it would be just okay at best. I then started watching it and was impressed by the performances, especially by the lead, Andy Bowles, himself. While watching the movie. I looked Andy up online and saw his YouTube page. I've never heard of him before, but was impressed by all his YouTube videos and continued watching the movie. His performances while trapped in the dungeon were amazing and very realistic. I would say that all of the performances were anywhere from good to great. Maybe the only thing I didn't like was the high pitched buzzing sound at 46:28, but I understand why it was included.

The movie was well-shot, well-acted, and very entertaining. It was more like a play than a movie. I like the realism of the storyline. The barber was hilarious! Kate was AWESOME. I was very happy I watched this as it restored my faith in indie movies. Perhaps the weakest actor was Detective Marsh who didn't seem like she was into the story as much as the others. James should've looked a lot more disheveled (and smelly) than he did, since was in the same room for a while. Looking forward to Dungeon 2!
