Worst ever
dirkvh19 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Ugh how bad was that?

The writers always think dream episodes are artsy but usually the audience gets bored real fast.

This one took so long they managed to bore me and even make me hate the show. After 4 years of having me as a fan that is not easy to do.

Spoiler: they are throwing the dice on which plot line to follow. Every 2 minutes.

Result: you will learn nothing this season finale. Cliff hanger: public and writers both are unsure as to what actually happened.

Please fire the persons responsible.

Made no sense

Warning: Spoilers
I have no idea what happened here. How much of this was fantasy, and how much was real? The last three seconds was basically "I woke up and it was all a dream". Or was it? Confused and annoyed...

rhutch-6903610 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The last half of this was so confusing! Starting with the red autopsy, was the writing team doing acid? All the things with with Detective McAvoy was happening while Jenny was unconscious, So did Peggy die? Did Detective McAvoy leave the force? Was it all a dream? WTF!!! If they do not get a season 5 this will be a horrible ending for a good show!!!

Hope there is a season 5

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show but they sure blew it on the last episode. It was so confusing it had my head spinning. I am not sure if Peggy died, was there really an accident, did McAvoy quit, did Jenny quit? The list goes on. It looked as if the writers ran out of ideas so they let their kids do the writing. I sure hope there is a season 5 so they can straighten this out.

What an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE & DISAPPOINTMENT !!!
malcolmburden-7459621 October 2022
I Have been an Absolute Fan of this Series and Looked Extremely Forward to each New Season, and Prior to this LAST EPISODE have Never felt the Need to have Any Negative Thoughts re same. But The Producers & Directors etc. Etc. Have Shown HOW EASILY 1 BAD EPISODE Can RUIN AN ENTIRE SERIES. Again Before now I have Always had Very High Recommendations to Other People re This Series, But THANKS TO THE ABSOLUTELY APPALLING FINAL EPISODE, I WOULD CERTAINLY NEVER EVER RECOMMEND SAME TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN; AND I PERSONALLY FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE "WASTED ALL OF THE TIME TO DATE WATCHING SAME". VERY VERY SAD & EXTREMELY EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED !!!!

Ridiculous

What a rubbish end to a mostly enjoyable series. Why do writers feel the need to screw up a series by going in silly directions. I do hope there is another season and that they manage to pull the series back together.

Disjointed, Confusing... Why?
nolimit2it10 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I have been ardent fans of the series since S1/E1... but we sat and looked at each other at the end of this season finale and just were so dumbfounded that we couldn't speak.

This episode was so disjointed, so confusing, such a discombobulation that we couldn't make sense of 90% of it AND to add insult to injury, we were left with this feeling of WHY?

I get the idea of the dream/hallucinatory scenes due to a possible concussion but really did it add or subtract from the overall series or even the episode's storyline??

And WHY would you end this w/no sense of ANY answers to the many questions about Jenny, her mom, Ross and Mac? What was actually real and what was still the hallucination?

I do hope to see a S5 but please... writers... don't get gimmicky or weird on us.

Awful!!!!!! Not watching season 5
classicrun-4491419 December 2022
Like every other user reviewer here, this episode disgusted me. I've been a loyal fan for four years but I have absolutely no interest in season five. This was the worst way to end a show that I've ever seen. This was worse than Lost. Who came up with this garbage? One really can't disclose spoilers because there aren't any. No one knows what the hell happened. This was not a way to treat fans. Did the writers decided they wanted to do some fantasy? Is this an unconscious dream? Are they all really just in hell or Purgatory? What any of this season real? Do any of these characters or the writers not suck? Other reviewers want a fifth season to have their questions answered. Not me. I'm so done. Disgusted.

Terrible way to end a series
davidcbarnett21 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Apparently Serinda Swan has decided to leave the series according to an article on TVLine. So, a renewal for season 5 seems unlikely. That is also the prediction of her co-star, Roger Cross. Even if it was renewed, would they recast Jenny? Have her die from her head wound and continue on with Thom Allison taking over the series lead in his role as Dr. Thompson.

I have to wonder if this bizarre episode was what led to Ms. Swan's decision to exit the series. The red autopsy scenes, the bizarre fantasy sequences, all of which led to her sitting up alone in a different spot from where she may or may not have pulled her mother out of the car did not really advance the story beyond an understanding of where the prayer she says over the dead she serves originated (which I did not need to know).

I enjoyed this show and will miss it, despite the bad taste in my mouth this episode left me.

So bad I would give it -1 if possible
Fat Tim23 February 2023
I really enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 took a dip but I was happy with the start of season 4 until the last few episodes. It stopped being about a Coroner and became a very poor soap opera.

I was expecting everyone to start talking backwards like the dream sequence in Twin Peaks but at least that was well written. I wouldn't have been surprised to see Bobby Ewing step out of a shower at the end.

If you believe that an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters will eventually rewrite all the great books then this episode is what happens if you give one monkey a broken typewriter and 5 minutes to write one episode of Coroner.

No idea what actually happened
JAC19783 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Was all a bit surreal, like the writers were on acid, however it was nice to see a happy ending....and then the classic it was all a dream switcheroo. Now I've no idea if Peggy is alive or dead, or what parts of the episode actually were real with the other characters. Did Donovan quit the police? Why would Jenny be dreaming of this, why would she dream of a new detective eating a sandwich? What a dreadful way to end a show which has been enjoyable until this episode. Wish I'd just turned it off five minutes earlier. They'd be better off cutting the last five minutes out so future viewers don't have to watch that bit!

They missed the mark
ginglittler19 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
If only they'd cut the last minute or so. Was a weird way in this last episode to wrap up loose ends and explain their relationships, but it succeeded and then to leave you confused on that last minute sucks. Was everything working out only a dream? She woke up at the very end well past the car where she had crawled with her mother (unless that also was a dream??) ...are we to assume she just crawled away and her mom was ?dead ? In the car? Was all dream and everything unfinished? I really liked it best where everyone had their life figured out at least for the moment. Would have been perfect ending the series right THERE!!! That last scene ruined the whole storyline for me!!!

The worst ending too a series ever
russellcharmine31 January 2023
This was a case of "The emperors clothes" ... The writers and directors were clearly trying to be too arty but it just didn't come off .. and a total let down. Too fans who have been sorry The coroner has come to an end.. but the final episode was absolutely nonsensical ,disappointing ... I still don't know who's dead or even what the hell the dog had too do with anything.. or was there ever a resolution between mother and daughter or why the dead girl was in the florist...what a shame this could've been such a good series the acting was fine but even good actors can do so much with a rubbish script... and what was the Director thinking.
