The FDLE is depicted as being the agency responsible for random murders. In reality, those are normally the responsibility of the municipality or county they occurred in. FDLE will assist when asked, but typically are not the lead agency unless there is a multi-jurisdictional connection.
The Florida Highway Patrol is depicted as a state police force, working on any type of case. In reality, they are focused on traffic related cases.
In several episodes, the characters refer to guns being registered, or not. Florida does not require registering guns. As in many TV shows, Hollywood writers don't adhere to this fact about many states, either intentionally or due to ignorance.
In the opening of each episode of the first season, Jim gets in his car, backs up, then moves the gear shift from Park to Reverse and drives off forward down the road. This had to be filmed out of sequence, moving from Park to Reverse should have happened when he went to back out of the space.
In multiple scenes throughout the series Jims phone got the start screen visible which obviously shows that there's not a call active on the phone.
The show is based in an Everglades community. However, many times Jim Longworth travels north to cities such as Ocala or Cassadaga, which are 3-4 hours away from any coastal Everglades cities. Not enough time has passed in the episode to allow for these trips there and back.
