A glorious finale.

After lavish New Year's Eve celebrations, matters become a lot more serious when King Louis throws down France's support fir The war of Independence in The United Provinces of America, it means a war with Great Britain.

This excellent first series closes with a very different, but great episode, it is a little different, in that most of the focus is away from the goings on of Marie and Louis, and more on the historical events at that time, namely The French involvement in The American Civil war, it's so interesting, unique how you watch this, and see the battle from the French point of view, not sure why but I almost cheered when they delivered a victory.

Plenty going on here, we see Louis growing and gaining confidence and strength, he now has conviction, Marie however remains somewhat childlike, but shows some steel.

Brotherly love has long since turned to hate, it'll be interesting to see what happens next, and how Josephine will continue to push her belittled husband.

Superbly well made once again, the costumes and locations continue to be jaw dropping, that closing sequence was expertly done.

Series one has been high court, high drama, high couture and hijinks, it'll be interesting to see what series two will bring.

Bravo, 9/10.
