The I Quit Match between The Rock and Mankind in the 1999 Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View was one of the greatest matches of the Attitude Era (and one of the most brutal. I mean eleven chair shots to the head? Nowadays, one chair shot there will cause the match to stop for safety concerns), and would spark a rivarly, as in the episode of Raw that follows, Mankind would (while holding The Rock's bounty money, which he got for helping Mr. McMahon eliminate Stone Cold Steve Austin in the Royal Rumble match) reveal he did not say I quit, as the saying was pre-recorded from an interview with Shane McMahon on the Heat before the event, and therefore, saying he never won, and he is not the champion. As a result, he challenges the champion to an Empty Arena match during Halftime Heat for the WWF Championship.
Thankfully, if you are a wrestling fan, this Empty Arena match was more entertaining than seeing the likes of Gloria Estafan and Stevie Wonder singing. With Vince McMahon commentating (the latter being special guest commentator), the Empty Arena match is no-holds-barred and no disqualification, meaning the two cause a lot of damage, as anything, even cotton candy and popcorn, is used as a weapon. I like this because The Rock has some of the best one-liners in this (too much salt), and the chaos makes it more entertaining than the actual halftime show the NFL did.
