Prithviraj was supposed to be saviour of Malayalam industry
raikuttan29 December 2022
Whats wrong with Prithvi..such a pathetic movie.. The basic plot itself is illogical. A simple push from "strong" Joshi would have moved the vehicle and solved the issue , similarly a simple push on my remote would have saved my time. 20mins in to the movie I felt Prithvi and Alphonse have taken the audience for granted. Vain attempts at Humour.. unnecessary bgm.. illogical story , dialogues and situations. Characters over acting...detailing at certain portions were really unnecessary... Major efforts were put in to include almost all cast of Premam plus few others from Malyalam industry and for what?? This dumb movie shouldn't have been made.

I don't understand why Prithviraj and Nayanthara signed up for this crap.. Prithvi being an Amazing director himself wouldn't he know what is being cooked atleast when the shooting started.!!!!

Was it just for money ?( I am sure he is already one among the top 5% richest in Kerala) . I really adore his knowledge of cinema and his passion to bring great content for Malayali audience. He was supposed to take Malayam industry to global level and he ends up doing movies like Gold and bro daddy( which was atleast watchable like an ad film ) but gold is really really poor. No story and screenplay was also crappy.

Movie is watchable for the cinematography.. Nice locations and all the insects. Special mention red ants.

Why so much hate ?
onetwoandx29 December 2022
This movie doesn't deserve all the hate that is receiving now. Yes, it is not the kind of movie we expected from Alphonse, but isn't that our fault ? This is a no brainer fun movie, the kind of a 90's movie starring Mukesh and Jadageesh, with an absurd plot and a lot of characters. It is not a slapstick one or a laugh riot, but it does invoke smiles. This might not be a movie that is meant for the masses and the classes, but for people like me who loves light hearted feel good comedies. To get a perspective, I liked Money rathnam by Fahad Fazil , another movie of similar genre. I guess you got the picture 😂

This GOLD is made out of PLASTIC!
thegudshots29 December 2022
If we could all look beyond the overall quality of this movie, at least everyone could agree that Alphonse Puthren is trying something new and he deserves praise for just that and that only.

The sad thing is that Gold (2022) could have been a great movie with better Direction from the makers. They should have clearly gone easy on the editing part because it's just unwanted texts from dialogues scattered all over the screen and slow motion scenes for no reason at all. Just FORCED into the movie. The same thing goes for the overall casting of the movie. It's as if the Director was trying to do a lot of things in a single shot. Most of the time this movie gives a short film vibe because of its below average directions.

Overall, Gold (2022) has good potential plot wise but fails in a lot of the other aspects. I get that most of the audience didn't like the movie at all and the main reason for that is because it's not by any means a movie for the theatrical audience, it should have been initially released through OTT.

Stupid Movie filled with Stupider characters
ajaycfg11 December 2022
"Java is simple!" Who can forget the Java instructor and his class room - in Premam? When George fell in love with Malar it was not just George but a whole generation of youngsters who fell in love with her; and when she lost her memory, we all cried along with him. Each scene in Premam, each character - including the silent (and dialogue-less) lover rang a bell in our hearts and memories.... and from that Director comes something as inane and meaningless as Gold, where not a single character, scene or dialogue remains in our memory or touches our heart! I am simply stupified!

Ater watching the latest outing from Alphonse Puthrans, the only charitable explanation I can think of is that he has lost his marbles. Nothing else will justify the total nonsense he has trotted out in the form of a movie.... We all have seen many escapist fare but this takes the cake for being the most absurd movie ever.

To begin with, the whole thing hangs on a wafer thin story. Second it's filled with too many cartoonish - but not funny - characters, without a single one of them showing even a spark of intelligence. A hero who punches people without any rhyme or reason, contract goondas who run away at his sight, a cop investigating a strange unknown vehicle without even the sense to note down its registration number, a rich jewellery owner who does not give a second thought about 200kg of gold that his men misplaced, a girl who simply sits and watches TV all day, waiting to marry an idiot whose pauperised father wants to blow up the mall that his son is getting in dowry, and random people who perform group dance without any reason and a director who makes you watch boring things in endless repeatition expecting you to hold your breathe in anticipation........ in short that's Gold for you!

God alone knows what Prithvi, Nayantara - I presume her's was a guest appearance - are doing in this movie, let alone the other equally talented actors wasting their talents - and our time - in a mockery of a movie?

My rating: 2 stars.

time waster from mollywood
saru20201 December 2022
W/o Prithviraj's face in this one, I wouldn't have even tried watching this film.

It may go well with the native language speakers but for others, it's a bummer, there's literally 0 fun and some most irritating characters' sequences that try to make fun but it just spoils even some of the average scenes.

The entire film is based on a one-liner: 'what if you get hold of a treasure on a fine day?' but the execution is so poor with loads of logic mistakes and poorly written script.

It's not even worth a one-time watch unless you're a guy who speaks mallu since you might laugh and relate to a few things more than others.

This Gold doesn't deliver the value that it promised.
ratheeshmani-577291 December 2022
It's finally here - 7 years after giving us the now cult classic "Premam" Alphonse Puthren is back with GOLD.

Does it meet or surpass its expectation - let's find out?

An unknown bolero packed with 200 Bluetooth speakers is parked right in front of Joshi's house.. Joshi our protagonist tries his best to get rid of it. First by informing the local police....but they seem to have problems of their own, then by getting his mechanic friend, who is less of a mechanic more of a guilt tripper - you know the kinds who go (you brought new car... didn't even tell me) While joshi manages this... he realizes that things aren't what they seem to be. Ever so slowly the real owners of the vehicle, as well as the reality of the type of content it carries, gets revealed and then begins a race against time for our hero to set things right.

That is about the best synopsis that I could come up with for this movie without giving away any major spoilers or plot points.

The first thing that strikes you about Gold is how different and unique the story n the set-up is. This uniqueness is further accentuated by light-handed treatment of the narrative and the novel editing choices.

Right from the first frame, you know you are watching something completely authentic and different.

So far so good...

the pacing is slow... very slow perhaps it's deliberately slow you would think. But then the scenes are stretched out so much that it almost starts to get on your nerves and test your patience. You don't have to show each and every activity done by the protagonist - watching tv, peeing, carrying boxes, having tea, looking for the weighing machine, joking with mom - how I wished, I could also get served some of those tasty tea n snacks that joshi's mother kept making throughout the film. Sigh

by the time the interval comes, you would have for sure glanced at your watch more than a couple of times.

But then the pace picks up in the second half, as more n more characters get introduced. Idea Shaji, Unni, Freddy boss. The connections and dynamics between these characters do infuse an element of fun albeit for a short time.

My fav of the lot was Idea shaji played with unabashed relish by Lalu Alex. Idea shaji is a self-proclaimed legend, his ideas are said to have been so legendary that people of the town annotated him with the name Idea Shaji... a story this idiot tells himself n believes in.

His interactions with unni - Shammi tilakkan who plays nayantara's father are to be the best part of the film.

And there ends whatever was good or even ok about gold.

Because unfortunately there is nothing else to write home about the movie.

Gold suffers from many problems and I am not talking about the problems arising out of the high expectations, No. Nor am I talking about logical problems, No, nor am I talking about hyper indulgence problems, no - I mean forget the pedigree, the logic, the other stuff... just as a standalone movie, with a run time of 3 hours - it doesn't stand. It's just too straight, simple and flat and not in a good way. There are some good ideas, some funny situations and some characters but this can't be a full-fledged movie.

Prithiviraj to whom 80% of the screentime is dedicated tries to deliver a sincere performance, but the character is underwritten - why would someone go through all of this, when infact in the end he was going to give it all away. Why does he take that risk? Why is he called Danger joshi ? You get one or two scenes or real emotion one being when the girl he was going to marry rejects him. The camera doesn't even pan to his face.. Its as if the movie isn't interested in the main character as much as it is in what he does and how he does... the why can take a hike.

It feels like Alphonse Puthren and team started shooting the film without really fleshing out or even trying to double click any of the ideas and the angles they wanted to explore.... like the roshan mathew angel, or the chemban vinod angel, even sajiu kurup who just vanishes after a few scenes... And what is nayatara doing in this movie... the ant shown here as a metaphor has more screentime and relevance than her.

What was Soubin sahir doing in that dance?

  • Confusion - I am confusion.

Instead of fleshing these out so much screen time is given to such pointless things that I sometimes felt.. is this like a practical joke that the makers are pulling on us the audience... I mean why would you show the 2 mahagony wood business guys - walking in an out of police station in slo-mo, or so many characters being offered tea, then drinking tea - again n again. Joshi loading n unloading each bag that too in slow mo. The entire track of the circle inspector and his antics, and jadgish character ... its bewildering the logic. To cast Nayantara - where the only thing she does is sit on a couch - that in itself is criminal.

Alphonse Puthren himself in his tweet announcing the release of the film mentioned in his tweet - that gold just like neeram and premam is an imperfect film.

Well, Alphonse etta, Imperfection is an overstatement, it is not even in the same league as the other two.

  • Film clip.

Yes, it's extremely disappointing that perhaps the most awaited Malayalam movie of the year isn't great. It isn't even good. However, there are still moments n passages in the film that I believe would be remembered for...
  • the electrifying bgm - it's quite kickass
  • the Alphonse Puthren touch - all the quirks and the absurdities you expect from him are all there perhaps a bit too much for the liking.

  • and finally Idea shaji - there has to be spin-off movie dedicated to this character. Lalu lex's voice reading the anti-smoking disclaimer before the movie will have you in splits.

All in all - Gold falls short of striking gold, could be the catchy one-liner to go with to end this video, but I would resist that temptation and go with another pun - This Gold doesn't deliver the value that it promised.

Good for OTT, Bad for theater
joppanLive30 December 2022
I liked the movie even though it has a wafer thin plot with too many silly unwanted brainless characters in it. I watched it in OTT hearing it was a flop, so I was able to watch it without the burden of high expectations, and because of it I found it interesting and engaging to some extent. The movie lacks the final kick-ass punch, apart from it 'Gold' is quite watchable and satisfying than many other 'so-called good movies' in recent times. The songs were good and apt to the situation. The nature elements showing here and there are ok, but found somewhat overly used at some occasions. Overall, a simple movie to time pass on a sofa on your free time. IMO, never recommend this for a theater experience as I don't see any point taking the effort and money to watch such a silly movie in a theater (especially in this tough economic situation)

Painfully slow
vimalavenkatesan10 December 2022
A painfully slow movie. Had to hold onto the seats just to see it through. Too many characters in the movie and none of them register except for Prithviraj. The heart of the story feels has a nice suspense element but they have beaten it to pulp. Felt like it was intentionally dragged to annoy the audience and test their patience. While I was curious to see the ending of the movie I was also so unable to believe any of it. It remains far from logic in many ways. While that is something I can live with if the story was moving fast. It really feels like someone promised a nice meal but made you wait for 2 . Hours to only serve you stale soup.

I don't usually review films but the rating of this film is far too low and needs to be bumped up
praveenvarghese-4366923 January 2023
I saw the reviews and ratings on imdb and stayed away from this movie thinking it was probably a big waste of time. While I feel this is usually the case, I had decided to Gold a go and found the movie to be quite entertaining and funny. I can understand why some of the reviewers here are disappointed as this movie does not live up to the standard of premam and neram. However if you remove those movies from your mind, this movie is still quite good. My eyes were glued to the tv screen as there was never a moment of boredom. The characters all had unique troupes to them which I found quite refreshing and the ending of the movie felt like a cherry on top to this simple comedic film.

Gold Turned to be Fake
skmenon19931 December 2022
*** Gold Malayalam Movie Review***

Directed by Alphonse Puthran starring Prithviraj Sukumaran Shammi Thilakan, Nayanthara , Lalu Alex , Baburaj and en number of artists...

"A story getting crushed again and again like sugarcane to extract its juice till its last but allein vain"

Plot of the Movie

One morning when Joshi wakes up, he finds a bolero being parked in his house. No idea he complaints to police station. Thereafter the Bolero changes his life is all about the movie.

Sounds like unique but no uniqueness... Alphonse Puthran whose " Premam" movie still re watchable ,Gold doesn't stand near it to it.

Why there was a casting of Nayanthara?? What noteworthy performance she made??

Few comic timing worked out because of Shammi Thilakan & Lalu Alex.

Sometimes over hype leads to harm & the same happened to Gold.

Better it should have been released on OTT, atleast we would have option to pause.

A Good Watch
sreeharimovielover-7863931 December 2022
Certainly nowadays the freedom of opinion of people has for sure gotten a little too far. Just because they have that option doesn't mean you disregard good movies. Honestly speaking despite the bad reviews and reception this movie received,I had kept my expectations high for this movie as it was a much awaited collab of Prithviraj-Alphonse Puthren.

And after watching the movie it was certainly not as bad as people termed it to be. Alphonse's signature moves may get a tad too much in this movie but still the performances of the leads really do make this movie a good watch atleast for OTT audiences. My Verdict-People need to know when to shut their goddamn bloody mouths! And to watch a movie as a movie. This boycott is getting little out of hand and honestly a lot dumber than before.

An experimental visual narrative that focuses on today's consumeristic culture
naveensankaran184 December 2022
Having previously directed Neram and Premam, Alphonse Puthren decided to gamble with his editorial techniques in this multi-starrer that focuses on how products are consumed in today's society. Backed up by a splendid score from Rajesh Murugesan, this experimental surprisingly worked for me, despite certain shortcomings. However, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if it's a filled one!

Prelude - to the post Being a fan of his work and the kind of genre he created, I was eager to catch Alphonse Puthren's next feature (Gold) on-screen. Since the day of its release, there have been numerously mixed to negative reviews, blaming the runtime, abrupt editing pattern and improper characterisations at major. However, I thought not to judge a movie quickly, that too from a man with so much love and passion towards movies and music, and decided to go forward with my plan to watch it today on the big screen.

As it turned out, I kind of liked the movie! If you wish to spare a few minutes, I will tell you why I liked it and you might be intrigued in watching the film as well! As usual, I will refrain from any kind of spoilers, unless specifically stated.

The Experimental Visual Narrative - The major gamble I was aware that Alphonse Puthren himself will be handling the editing table but not of the surprises it withheld. Right from the title animations to the visual effects and editing, Alphonse Puthren took a humongous risk by employing several editing techniques on-screen, that most often suits the mood of that particular moment. The reason I describe it as a major gamble is that the narrative style is kind of binary in nature. Either you like it, or hate it.!

Unlike any traditional movie, Gold has multiple edit patterns that focus on the moment than the overall treatment of the story itself. An odd song from a band playing on a river shore, or a peppy dance number from Aleena Alphonse Puthren are all part of the narrative that makes us feel "the" moment, though sounding like an oddly placed number. By edit patterns, I did not mean just the editing of scenes/sequences. Right from the camera angle to the background score, everything synced with his editing style, which could be perceived as abrupt cuts by many.

For a narrative that is majorly hyperlinked in nature, such abstractive work might not be totally necessary. However, I think the director chose this because of the subtext the movie focuses on - the gormandizing nature of today's consumeristic society.

Consumeristic Society - the sarcastic subtext Being known for his beautiful portrayal of nature and environment as a form of subtext in his movies, Alphonse Puthren decided to use something way more serious as an underlying subtext for this film - the way products are consumed in today's society.

More often than not, People can't make rational decisions on what they want in their life, especially when it comes to the consumption of products, physically/digitally. There is a sequence in the film, where a person buys an iPhone just like that, without any prime reason for actually using it. The same iPhone that ends up as an "unwanted" gift for someone, actually hinting at our behaviour at marriage halls/family occasions.

Such social issues were comically portrayed on-screen in the form of multiple characters, with the sequences involving Lalu Alex ("Idea" Shaji) and Ajmal Ameer (Sunesh Shaji) serving as prime examples.

By providing visual titles for almost anything on-screen (be it sky or a house by the bank of Periyar river), and edit-patters that feel like Insta-reels, the narrative had a rather sarcastic take on both physical and digital consumption of goods, and how people are greedy/ignorant around them.

The subtext involving the ants and the sugar ball was kind of a mass element if you ask me, as it directly correlates with that of Joshi (Prithviraj Sukumaran). The whole discovery of the "sugar ball" and the way "the ball" was utilized, were nothing short of commercial highs!

Characters - the strengths and the weaknesses The role of Joshi and C. P. O. Rakesh Manjappra is of prime importance here, as they are shown as (primarily) the ones who are not so ignorant of how the consumeristic mindset functions. For such pivotal roles, the choice of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Baburaj is highly commendable. If not for them, the narrative could've lost its giant pillar of support.

However, with such an ensemble cast and such a serious issue as a subtext, Alphonse Puthren could've utilised the characters to a much more effective extent. With a runtime in excess of 160 minutes, the narrative had ample room for the dynamics to sprawl among the characters, which could've resulted in a much better screenplay than what I witnessed today.

The Alphonse Puthren genre - Is it worth the time?

The reason why Neram and Premam worked big time was because of the journey the movie had than the point-to-point travel of the narrative itself - the Alphonse Puthren Genre. It is the "how" that matters and Gold experimented with this "how" a lot! Nevertheless, it worked for me and I am satisfied with experiencing such a visual experiment on the big screens, which proved effective.

As mentioned in the section title, Gold belongs to the Alphonse Puthren genre, which is a dynamic one. If one's cup is filled with a lot of expectations, then there might be a hell lot of disappointments. However, if one chose to be open to what the director has to say if one lets himself/herself into the world of the director, then there will be some good takeaways.

Utter flop don't waste your time
farook-4567831 December 2022
Such a utter flop movie I had watched after a long time. I really wanted to watch this movie inside the theater but I'm feeling so happy right now that I have watched this through Amazon prime. The editing and the direction was very poor showing unnecessary scenes not related with the current play. I had expected some piece of quality with the actor Mr prithviraj for selecting movies. So many characters with unnecessary needs and not even matching their profile. After a long break Nayanthara was introduced back to the Malayalam movie industry. I think need to bring some separate certification from the sensor board like waste of time

A movie that should have been shelved
TheGreatCritic1 December 2022
Let me start by saying that I didn't have expectations even though my group did. That's because Alphone Puthren had raised his bar through Neram and Premam, a movie that created a wave in Kerala and started a new phase in Malayalam cinema. The goodwill that Puthren and crew created pulled me towards the movie, and I am disappointed. Not with the movie, but with the fact that he has ruined his own filmography.

Coming to the movie, the best way of putting it is by wondering what this movie was actually about.

A lot of characters introduced just for the sake of it, probably to give the feel of a star studded movie.

Plain boring. That's it.

Gold made of plastic
manukrishnano29 December 2022
The movie ended up with many remaining questions. I couldn't find the logic in many areas. Alphons is a superb editor andhe proved in his previous projects, but i felt like he did little over editing here, unnecessary effetcs and cuts , and don't know why the dance scenes !! After the hard effort of the hero taken to take the gold ended up with nothing and zero logical. The big question remaining is why the real owner of the gold abanded this much gold like garbage and act like nothing happened. So many questions remaining after wathing this film.

It's a one-time watchable film for just time pass , that's it.like a group of friends made a film just for fun.

"Neram" like story. "Premam" like making
gangeshgnair30 December 2022
Alphonse puthren has gained a very large fanbase just with his 2 movies. His first movie "Neram" was a very crisp and clear thriller with amazing writing, music and performances. His second movie "Premam" was a industry hit and one of the best hangout and vibe movie ever to be made in Malayalam cinema. "Gold" on the other hand feels like a mix of both. A story like "Neram" and making like "Premam".

Prithvi raj Sukumaran gave a good performance. All the other actors who performed in the movie did good. The movie had a good story for a interesting thriller. Some jokes work. Editing, camera work and all the other technical things were done nicely.

The movie really stretches a lot. I felt the story deserved a crisp treatment like "Neram" instead was stretched too much with unwanted characters and scenes which never clearly adds anything significant in the movie. Alphonse tries to create a vibe and atmosphere with his sketchy characters and nature shots like in "Premam", but totally falls flat and fails to create an impact. Most of the jokes never land because the characters are not effectively written or established. Nayantara just feels like a talent being wasted, she gets no scope to perform or a effective character. The songs feel pretty unnecessary and could have been avoided. The writing is just weak, never felt emotionally invested with any character, No proper and impactful antagonist and the climax feels like a joke.

Hopefully Alphonse will give a better comeback with his next movie.

One time watchable
crravikiran29 December 2022
I watched this movie on OTT platform. It's a typical alphonse putharen movie. It's not that bad as people are saying but it's dragging in between. The positive part of the movie is acting of the Casts . All did their roles really well. A simple story was stretched to more than 2 and half hours while it could have been less than 2 hours. It's time director alphonse putharen stops messing the movie with his camera speed variations and angles. He's creating lot of confusions for the viewers by repeatedly putting bold titles on screen like a power point presentation. That template worked in premam but can't expect it to work in all movies. He should try something new next time he directs a movie.

Worse ...worst
almithrabinuk29 December 2022
What was the director thinking..didn't the crew watch the film before releasing..you should have burned the movies...Prithviraj..was he trapped into playing this role.. The screen play is rubbish.

Oh my God I can't imagine how the people who watched it paying the subscription would have cried.

They tried creating comedy but they ended being rubbish. Kindly atleast keep up with the basic standards of the malayalam movie industry.

I could see how many precious actors got trapped into their roles in the movie.the music director was so confused. I watched it in 2x speed..as I couldn't resist me from sleeping when watching it in normal speed.

Average , but new making style
SPHariSP2 December 2022
Alphonse Puthren brings new making style to Malayalam and probably new in Indian cinema as well. He mixes music , cuts and use of symbols to bring a new style. But the movie lacks the content to support the experimental making style.

Lalu Alex is remarkable. Shammi thilakan , Vijay fort , Krishna Shankar also done well. Prithviraj done decent job, but nothing to excel. Nayan comes for 15 mins and appears cute and that's pretty much all she got to do. Lot of leading actors comes and goes in junior artist roles without making any impact.

Puthren is known to be crazy experimental in his moving making which often gives great trouble to producers every time. Like not doing promotion , and taking months for post production, and not even relaxing good posters. When the experiment works it's a happy ending for all, but failure is also huge.

WARNING: This is not everyone's cup of coffee
m-ramanan28 January 2023
RATED 7/10 Language: Malayalam Source: Amazon prime

The problem of this movie is that either you will like it or hate it. This movie has all ingredient to hate and like at the same time. Give a try with open mind and less expectations.

This is not artistic at the same time this is not pathetic. I liked most of the scene sequences and situations. I was just wondering how they are going to end this. I was bit satisfied with the ending and it makes me as a worth watch.

If you don't like the way he present the situation, definitely you wont like this movie. This is not perfect and this has to be tasted by everyone and get this different flavour of cinema.

How worse can a movie be?
sajeshenampurath30 December 2022
After painstakingly watching this movie, I am still trying to understand how such a large star cast was convinced to do this movie. There was a disconnect between everything I was watching in this movie. There was a disconnect between the characters and almost all the scenes. Maybe the movie maker was trying to create something new, but this large statcast movie failed utterly. So many good actors and talent just wasted in the process. This could have been so much better if over thought was not applied. What was Soubin doing around those dancers? What was Mallika sukumarans role and presence intended? Overall it turned out to be stressful movie, as I was expecting something meaningful to happen considering the heights malayalam movie is today!

Alphonse, you have a gift. Don't waste it.
Cinema_freak31 December 2022
Take the time to read my whole review. Do not go by these 1/2/3-star reviews. They all miss the mark. If the "plot" was what people were focusing on in this movie, then they must be pretty out of their minds. We don't remember movies like Ramji Rao Speaking or Godfather for their "plot". Sure, they had their little plots, but we remember them mainly for the multiple incredible scenes and witty dialogue.

Despite the sensory overloads of those crappy text captions, the pathetic cringy dance and song interludes, and the seizure-inducing video edits, this movie had an incredible number of laugh-out-loud scenes as well as subtly funny ones which more than made up for the cringe.

If all these reviewers posting these crappy reviews here did not laugh at all those subtle nuances and dialogue, then I pity their sense of humour.

What actually irks me is that they then go on to call lame wannabe-Hollywood movies like Bheeshma Parvam and Rorschach "good cinema". I'd watch Gold any day over these.

This movie was not about the "plot" at all, it was about enjoying the characters' antics and interactions with each other.

That is where I come to the point I make in the title. Mr. Puthren, if you are reading this review, in my humble opinion, you have a gift in writing and directing incredibly funny scenes and dialogue. I see the Indian Tarantino in you. Don't waste it on the unnecessary cringe-inducing song/dance cuts and video editing overloads.

And Prithvi/Supriya, don't regret having made this movie. I haven't laughed this much in a while, so thank you.

I would have given this movie a 7 or 8 but am giving it a 9 just because of the heap of trashy low-score reviews here.

Watch it for Prithviraj and Alphonse Puthren edits

An average movie. I don't think it deserves all the hate its been receiving. It's not a bad movie, just not great either. Its witty and is packed with Alphonse Puthren's trademark cuts and is yet another example of his unconventional making style. The plot is quite simple and the movie revolves around that one plot piece, which many may have found to be lagging. It picks up pace in the second half and the climax has been criticised by a few people as well. In my opinion, when you are talking about 'make believe', I think the creator does have the liberty of going a little larger than life to end the story on his terms. I had a good time watching the movie with my friends and family. It has its flaws but nevertheless, I was entertained which is primarily what I look for in a movie.

Not worth even a pinch of Gold !!

This movie is an absolute waste of time, talent & every bit of resource that was utilized into making this nonsensical work!!

Every actor part of this movie has undone all the good work they've done in other movies by agreeing to be part of something as horrible as this.

With so many talented actors, it is sad to see them being part of a mockery called movie. Does not even deserve 1 star. Having watched all of Alphonse's previous movies multiple times, I am stunned by the lows to which this movie has fallen.

As a Malayalam movie lover, I'm beyond disappointed ! Please do not make such movies, it's a request!

Waste of time.

Its a waste of time to watch this movie. And never expected such a low quality illogical fil from such a director. Most of the scenery shots show resemblance with director's older films. And very much confused about whether they had fund shortage by seeing the narration. How come Nayantara agreed to act in this movie is a surprise and what element led prithviraj productions to produce this movie when they had a already done so many good movies last year. I dont know is it just me or anyone else felt the unnecessary insertion of insects shots. Far better was to rerelease Premam movie. Editing wisw also horrible movie.
