With what is basically a large drill Jared manages to make a huge tunnel in moments. If the wall was that weak, there wouldn't have been need for the drill in the first place.
Hector tells Ben that he "managed to get the bulb" for his potted flower, but it is clearly a marigold (Tagetes sp.) which are commonly and easily propagated from their abundant seeds, and do not produce bulbs.
Cal and Olive could have found much earlier how Fiona died by watching the video of the baby monitor which they did but later.
