Chicago – The world of advertising, which is rapidly evolving in the post technology age, contains the remnants of many creative souls. Occasionally, these creators express themselves outside the business in formats like music video and short film. Directors Bradley Bischoff and Eric McCoy are two such participants in the Midwest Independent Film Festival’s Advertising Community Shorts night, Tuesday, November 15th, 2016.
The Midwest Independent Film Festival is a year-round movie event in Chicago that takes place the first Tuesday of every month (delayed this month because of theCubs World Series run and the presidential election), at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema. The festival has been recognized by Chicago Magazine in their “Best of Chicago” issue, and has become one of the top places for local filmmakers, producers and actors to network in the Windy City. Chicago – When HollywoodChicago.com last talked to Eric McCoy, he was a fresh-out-of-film-school director with a notable short work – “Carpe Millennium” – ready to hit the festival circuit, and a different name, Eric Bednarowicz. About a year later, Eric moved to Los Angeles, took his middle name as his new moniker, and teamed up with Justus Meyer to form the new production company McCoy|Meyer. Ironically, Dictionary Films of Chicago just announced that McCoy|Meyer of Los Angeles will join their team of production experts here.
Eric McCoy is a Chicago native, having grown up in the north Lakeview neighborhood. After graduating from Columbia College here, he pulled up stakes and took his talent as a director to Los Angeles. He reacquainted himself with Justus Meyer, a fellow Columbia College grad from a small town in South Dakota, while working on a music video. The two former classmates clicked, and McCoy|Meyer was born.

Chicago – Eric Bednarowicz is a young Chicago filmmaker who has a long resume of production experience. “Carpe Millennium” is his short comedic film making its world premiere at the Charleston, South Carolina, International Film Festival on April 10th.
The short comedy has a universal theme – the overriding desire to lose one’s sexual innocence. The twist is that the young male virgin in the film is trying to do this before the turn of the millennium on New Years Eve, 1999. To complete the mission, he decides to up the seduction ante by expanding a few movie production credits to include friendship with a known action film star. This seems to being working out well, until the film star decides to show up at the party.
