I am just kidding about Taylor Swift — who could easily be a V.S. Angel if she dropped the mic, ruffled up some feathers, and listened a wee bit harder for the sound of a bell jingling on a passerby’s g-string.
Poof! Wings granted.
In fact, the only Angel who seemed to truly dwarf Taylor Swift, especially during the “British Invasion” opening number, was this Sexy Butterfly on Drugs a.k.a. returning champion Karlie Kloss.
Decking the runway in this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra, Candice Swanepoel struts as far away from Fall Out Boy — who...

The last time we met director Alex de la Iglesia at Fantastic Fest, he was telling us that in order to enjoy life, you have to be a bad person. He said as much prior to introducing his eccentric, wonderfully crafted film The Last Circus in 2010. It was full of astounding performances, striking visuals and an unnerving political relevance. Since then, he’s been working on a film called Witching and Bitching, which debuted at this year’s festival to equal measures of madness. It’s nice to know that he’s still crazy and still making wonderfully entertaining films. The story revolves around a group of desperate men who dress up in costumes — Jesus, a Green Toy Soldier, Spongebob Squarepants, etc. — and use the business of a town square as cover while they steal a bag filled with thousands of gold rings from a pawn shop. The robbery sequence, which...

They are in every city along the main tourist drags, those living statues of celebrities, comic book characters and horror icons just standing there, silently hoping for your loose change. In Álex De La Iglesia's latest bit of mayhem, they're not standing still for long; nothing here is ever silent for long. In broad daylight on the crowded streets of Madrid, Jesus Christ, a Toy Soldier, Spongebob Squarepants, the Invisible Man and possibly Mickey & Minnie Mouse knock off a "We Buy Your Gold" shop. In a haze of sweat and bullets, they make off with the booty of a couple thousand gold rings in a hijacked Taxi. Painted head to in silver body spray, Jesus, with a shotgun to match his chrome skin and thorny...

Do not mess with Silver Jesus. He will shoot you.Spanish director Alex De La Iglesia is hard at work on his latest cult comedy Witching And Bitching (Las brujas de Zugarramurdi) and behind the scenes shots have emerged featuring Silver Jesus and a Toy Soldier holding up a cash-for-gold shop. See? You should never trust street performers. The photos are actually of stars Mario Casas and Hugo Silva shooting a key scene from the film. More will hopefully be coming soon. When your marriage has you on the brink and your bank account in red, it's time to rob a Cash-for-Gold shop. That's the last-ditch decision made by a group of desperate guys led by divorced dad JOSÉ. Unfortunately for all, José never lets his kid down...

Britney Spears celebrated her 31st birthday yesterday, which means that every single one of us is so old. But guess what isn't old? These five underrated Britney songs that I find myself playing more than any of her singles. Feel free to contribute your favorite B-sides below, but I think this is a pretty divine quintet. I particularly love the last one and it's gurgly weirdness.
(And yes, you can add these tracks to my "9 Acceptable Reasons to Love Britney Spears" list)
"Born to Make You Happy"
To be honest, I didn't know this had a music video until last night, but "Born to Make You Happy" is surely the first under-the-radar Britney track that stands the test of time. It has the hopeful teenage sweetness of "Sometimes," a song that I Love And I Don't Care What You Say, but it's got more firepower in its choruses. Forgive what...

The Arizona Underground Film Festival keeps picking and screening the best in world extreme cinema and their fourth annual edition, which will run Sep. 16-24 in Tucson is no exception, compiling outrageous cult epics from countries such as Japan, Switzerland and Cuba; as well as some local nastiness produced in the fest’s own backyard.
The fest opens with Jack Perez’s Some Guy Who Kills People, a comedy thriller executive produced by John Landis and starring Kevin Corrigan as a loser who gets sadistic revenge on those he feels have wronged him.
While the opening night film is a big name affair, Auff is also celebrating local freaky film fare with films such as the film noir Sweet Love and Deadly, directed by Paul Clinco; and the horror comedy Dick Night, directed by Andy Viner.
From elsewhere around the U.S., there’s the fest’s annual celebration of extreme cinema,...
