A MUST WATCH , eye opening docu-series
priyankanbhatia3 November 2021
This show brings light to issues that need to be addressed in a world that claims to be progressive and inclusive. It is shocking to watch these stories and learn about the atrocities that minorities still face. It's high time that these issues are brought to light for justice to be served.

Compelling, Disheartening, and fuel for change in Aus.

Each episode of Unheard shows real first-hand accounts racism in Australia, and how it destroys lives, and about the systems in place that sustainably hold down Indigenous Australians, people of colour, refugees, and ethnic and religious minorities.

I feel this doco just lays out the truth, it is how it is, it doesn't overdramatise or exaggerate it... it's just real stories from real people. However it does it in an artful way, with nice shots, and cool animation throughout.

While it's often a hard watch full of extremely uncomfortable truths about Australia, I do believe every Australian should hear these stories, told by the people who live with this deeply engrained racial inequality every day. The brave individuals who have shared these stories should feel very proud. Hopefully their stories will make people think twice before discriminating against innocent people.

It's an intense watch, but Australia desperately needs to hear these stories. I think if every Australian gave this a watch, our society would be a nicer place to live for all.

An important documentary!

There isn't much (if any) media coverage of these tragedies, or ones like them. For this reason alone this documentary is hugely important, as it educates us and spreads awareness of the issues. We can't become a more inclusive society without coming to terms with stories like these.

Riveting, impactful and beautifully realised
christopher_22111 November 2021
This sharp, smart and dispassionate documentary series is more than just riveting - they're stories that need to be heard!

At the heart of each episode is a personal anecdote, which is fleshed out with statistics, research and input from experts, complemented by quality animation (rather than dodgy re-enactments) making it clear that these incidents are not one-offs, anomalies or unfortunate accidents.

Can't recommend this enough! Essential viewing beautiful realised through masterful storytelling. A must watch!

Nothing new here

There are always a small percentage of low life racists with low IQ and some have violent tendencies. There are ethnic groups that will fight each other but these shows tend to fall into the category of implying all the perpetrators are white and the victims groups are blameless.

Everyone needs to watch this!

I really hope this documentary is shown in schools. They've truly captured how racism diminishes us as a society. Captivating from start to finish. Can't recommend this enough!

It's interesting, but...

Not an unbiased documentary. From the first episode; it tries to present its victims as angels who somehow fell through the cracks of the system while simultaneously showing footage of the exact opposite.

All the "experts" are either family, or the victims lawyers, who are able to speak freely without any kind of cross examination.

It's worth a watch though. Very 2021.

Heartbreaking stories told so beautifully. The right amount of truth, honesty, facts and candour threaded through six visually poetic episodes. A must-see!

Watch and discuss!

Difficult stories are brought to life with honesty, compassion and creativity so that you just can't turn away. The rawness of individual experiences shines through while experts contextualise to equally expose important themes of overt, violent and everyday, casual racism. Many people deny that this exists in Australia but through each episode covering a different ethnic group it is undeniable.

Really enjoyable watch despite the difficult subject matter.
