guys thats not supposed to be tatsu lol

This series follows the actor Kenjirô Tsuda as he starts following the advice that he learned while playing Tatsu in the animated series. It's not actually meant to be Tatsu himself.

Fun, but misses the punchline
stacy-rapoport31 August 2021
I think this show is amusing, but for me it lacks the comedic punch of the anime series it is based on. That show, The Way Of The Househusband, is about an ex-yukaza head mobster who retires and becomes the scariest and most efficient househusband on the block. This live action show lacks the context for me, as this is just a regular dude, to find it funny. Like I said, amusing and fun. But I'm not in love with it.

Close, but it missed the mark.

This was still fun and interesting, but it really missed the humor of the way Tatsuya says things as an ex-yakuza. That's the main part of the story, after all.

Where's the joke and the yakuza?
godard65-25 September 2021
I hate to compare, but if seen the cartoon, it really brings out the yakuza of the main character who is trying very hard to be a househusband. That is the core of the joke.

As for these short live action pieces, I wish they wouldn't take it so serious. The main character doesn't look or feel like a yakuza at all. He just looks like a very serious guy who is in to minimalism and cleans the house neatly. The creators of this series should of went over the top with it. They should of exaggerate the character. I want to like it, but I don't feel it.

Lovely to watch, funny and helpful

I don't think the point of this live action version is meant to include the yakuza character part, or the full humour. It's like a program channels show between longer shows, light hearted and mostly full of household tips.

The best part is the music, comedic timing, the actor and his beautiful home and garden. It will inspire you to take time doing chores, and do them with pride and be able to laugh at yourself for being a perfectionist and for the trauma felt when something goes wrong after being so attentive!

Pure gold

For the first time in my life I've had an urge to clean my house. Actor does as good job as sejuu in anime. Tips are very well explained and everybody will find something interesting as show focuses on various household tasks. I am very grateful for this short and hoping for more to come in the future.

Tsuda Kenjirô is an underrated legend

I have been appreciating his work since the early 2000s and I must say it was refreshing to watch him narrate this informative and comedic series. Absolutely amazing seiyuu adding to his impressive resume. Must Watch.

Tatsu VS Tsuda
mtpaksu27 November 2021
"The Way of The Househusband" and "The Ingenuity of the Househusband" are not the same story. One of them (the way) is about the life of an ex-yakuza (Tatsu, cartoon character) and the other is about the life of Kenjiro Tsuda who is an actor who gives his voice to Tatsu (former yakuza, cartoon character). Tsuda is the Man 👍

Refreshing short episodes

After absolutely binge watching the series I was left wanting more.

Very entertaining to watch and the theme itself is subtle but thought provoking.

The cat is hilarious and the actor shows an intensity and fine tuned acting that really impresses.

Tried the original anime afterward but, though I do consider myself an anime/manga fan it didn't hit the same feels or meet the same level of quality.

Looking forward to more.

I just loved the cat! You wonder where the wife, partner is...and what she/he does for a living.

Better than the anime
jessicadpaul20 October 2021
Tbh, I tried to get through The Way of the Househusband anime, but couldn't. This, however, is a gem. My husband had to come into the room to see what was making me laugh so much.
