DS Matt Devlin is shaken when he learns that a close friend, PS Pete Garvey is found dead in a park. Garvey was shot and Devlin refuses to accept the initial findings: that he had very likely taken his own life. The dead man's wife tells him that her husband had been out of sorts lately and had taken to visiting a former priest, Jonathan Nugent, for counseling. Devlin and Garvey were altar boys together and Garvey had always claimed that Nugent had molested him. Since it's confirmed that Garvey took his own life, it leaves the Crown Prosecutors with a dilemma as to just what to do. They finally decide to charge him, arguing it was his molestation that led Garvey to kill himself.
