During World War II, Bernhard is seen meeting a British agent in London named Fleming, who is interested when Bernhard orders a vodka martini, "shaken, not stirred". The man is obviously Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, who prince Bernhard really met during World War II. Bernhard's reputation as a womanizer led to a myth that Fleming based his character partially on the prince, although there's no real evidence of that. Fleming did however create a villain named Count Lippe for his novel Thunderball, referencing Bernhard's title as prince of Lippe-Biesterfeld.
