Hello There....
moviesfilmsreviewsinc21 June 2023
Episode 6 of High Desert felt like a filler, with the creators downplaying progression and focusing on immaterial plot details. Despite its charm, High Desert needs a lift, as the story's momentum has withered away, and the story moves too slowly and without conviction. Peggy's "mourning" of Roslyn in season 1 was ineffective, as it was a crucial character arc that has not materialized yet. Arman and Heather also appeared inorganically, and Peggy's dealing with Bob's issue lacks confidence for upcoming episodes. High Desert is losing its grip, and with two episodes remaining, it may not be enough time to wrap up its unresolved conceits. In episode 6 of High Desert, Bob is harassed by Heather and her father for the fake he sold and wants their money back. Peggy, who has secured the Pioneertown security contract and possibly found Dona's finger, is also involved. Bruce agrees to the reward for Dona, but Peggy suggests taking Dona's nail to Tina, a nail salon owner near the Scarboroughs' tanning center. Mary confirms it as her nail but refuses to reveal more secrets about Dona's life. She expertly takes Nick's DNA sample and lies about a book deal detailing their missing siblings. The DNA processing process will take a week due to the backlog. Peggy informs Bruce of Dona and Bob's fake art scam, causing anxiety. Carol, Peggy's best friend, completes surveillance on Bruce's client and confirms her affair with a woman. Peggy's supply of pills runs low, and she cannot get more until she passes a urine test. Owen pushes Peggy to stage her play, claiming it's to win his mother's love. Peggy receives daily calls from Bob, but she doesn't pick up one. Owen also informs Peggy that he has "written the cannon into the play," misinterpreting Peggy's suggestion. Peggy experiences an epiphany, realizing her mother, Roslyn, is gone and cannot be brought back. Bob offers her pills, but she is beaten by Heather. Arman, Heather's father, interrogates her about the buyer and the painting. Peggy corrects him and recognizes Heather's breaking parole terms. Arman demands the money and threatens harm if she doesn't get it. Peggy contacts James Kachel, a friend from her past, who shows her the painting and promises to meet her location to complete the deal. Tina reports Dona's missing nail to Nick, who realizes Peggy duped him. Nick Gatchi discovers a missing painting in the washroom and orders Leo Gatchi to find the Sylvia Plath or not return it. Arman discovers a buyer through Peggy, who is helping Bruce secure a security contract at Pioneertown. Peggy shows Bruce the fingernail, which she believes is Dona Scarborough's. Bob attempts to convince Arman that Peggy is telling the truth, but she ignores his calls. Peggy takes the nail extension off the severed finger and takes it to Tina, the nail salon owner next to Gattchi's tanning place. She chats with Nick Gattchi and offers him a lollipop before returning it. Peggy visits Carol to discuss the case, but she sees Cooper stealing her car and sneaking out with friends. Carol shows Peggy pictures of Cooper's cheating wife, which she was asked to surveil.
