Impressive. So well made.

Frankie has contrived her way into the home of The Bassington-ffrench household, Bobby encounters the mysterious blonde.

Very good once again, and to my surprise, this was another very authentic, very faithful installment. As I mentioned previously, it's not a favourite book of mine, but in my mind's eye, this is how I imagine it.

If you're here, and expecting similar to the recent BBC productions, you'll either be disappointed or pleased, it's altogether more faithful, with less show, it's drier, but all the better for it.

It didn't have quite the same intensity as the first episode, but that's the nature of the story,

Sublime visuals once again, and top notch acting, loved Miles Jupp and Daniel Ings in particular, Boynton and Boulter are a joy.

7/10.

Chauffeurs, they just appear.. great line.

The Bassington

Warning: Spoilers
The infiltration in the house of the Bassington was a succes and what comedy that was and really was a funny scene. Bobby Jones try to know more about the place where he found the same thing on the pocket of the dead man on the bottom of the cliff. Bobby will found also the lady on the photograph in the woods. And there is still that mysterious man who follow Bobby everywhere and track him. And Frances meet Roger. And we have Bobby will follow the sister of Leo. We know also that the husband of the Brassington get delivered Morphia. Knocker will get in danger because of that mysterious man who want to find Bobby. Bobby will know more about the lady of the photograph and her husband. Frances also meet the Nicholson and she sees Moira for the first time and James Nicholson will emit some doubts about the supposed accident of Frances and thats how end the episode. Still intriguing and have some Mysteries arround the Brassington and Roger and now James Nicholson and his wife get the center of attention. The episode is really interesting and really have everything: comedy, friendship, suspense, dramatic, thrill moments and i really found it good the way it reveal things to us and take time for the developpment and the characters implications in the case. Nice episode anyway and find it really interesting in each character and the case how it evolve and how things turn.

You know chauffeurs, they just appear

Rather diffuse this time, with a lot of rambling threads and padding. Some good acting especially from Lucy Boynton as Frankie who is at the centre of everything, but it is merely wheel spin with the plot bogged down.

Episode 2

Dr Thomas's funeral is held and the police do not think it was suicide. Bobby's father the Reverend Jones is upset with the recent events.

Meanwhile Frankie has hatched a plan to infiltrate the house of Roger Bassington-ffrench. It means staging a car accident so Frankie can get inside the house by being injured.

She finds that Henry, his brother who owns the house is a bad tempered morphine addict.

Meanwhile the mysterious bowler hatted man is looking for Bobby. He goes to meet his father the Reverend Jones. Later he attacks Knocker at the garage.

The old fashioned sleuthing carried out by both Bobby and Frankie works well with Why Didn't They Ask Evans? It is unpretentious and yet modern as well.

Hugh Laurie makes a belated appearance as Dr Nicholson. He soon indicates to Frankie that he clearly knows more is going on.

Evans 'elp us.

In true Capricornian style, Lucy Boynton plays the sassy Frankie so well here but this episode did drag a bit.

The Welsh aspect got me to watch the show but, all too soon, it has become very English with an American lady in a grand house for the interest of our friends across the pond.

Yes, the views are nice but the story still seems to be going nowhere.

It's only a three parter thankfully so will see it through until the end.

45 minutes of film would be quite enough despite the big UK cast.
