The Maltese Falcon (1941)
D'Oro: "It's the stuff that dreams are made of! Porcelain dreams!"THX 1138 (1971)
The poster near Club 41 says, "Wind Still Sucks - Flotsam Island endures 1138th straight day of unwelcome winds," which is a reference to the title of the 1971 film "THX 1138".Apocalypse Now (1979)
Guybrush: "I love the smell of treasure in the morning."Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
When Guybrush examines the pillars of the Flotsam Docks twice, he says, "I don't really have the education, jacket, or fedora to properly interpret ambiguous ancient carvings," a reference to the main character Indiana Jones from his first film "Raiders of the Lost Ark".Wheel of Fortune (TV Series 1983)
When Guybrush asks Crimpdigit about the Alphabet Sale and one of the vowel tubes, Crimpdigit says, "Would you like a vowel?" and "You'd like to buy a vowel, eh?", a reference to the lines from the TV game show "Wheel of Fortune".
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
De Singe: "And your little hand, too!"- The scene when De Singe arrives with a sniper rifle at the Wind Control Device and threatens Guybrush to hand over his hand, followed by a brief period of staring silence in confrontation before Guybrush breaks the silence and De Singe fires the rifle, parodies the "showdown at high noon" scene in the "Dollars Trilogy", most notably "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".
- After Guybrush rearranges one of the wind idols, De Singe points the rifle at him and says, "You're meddling in affairs you cannot possibly understand!" This line is similar to the line from the film, when Marcus Brody says, "You're meddling with powers you can't possibly comprehend."
Dora the Explorer (TV Series 2000–2019)
Guybrush: "Can I call you 'D'Oro the Explorer?'" D'Oro: "No."
