• 2 : [discovering he's under surveillance]  It must be an undercover. Someone with a roach cam. There's so many undercovers, it could be anyone. It could be you.

  909 : Huh. 6. He's different. He's not like the other suspects. He has, uh...

  909 : Conviction.

  2 : No harm must come to 6. He must survive. But he can suffer. His work as an undercover must make him feel compromised, hmm? Has 6 ever met up with my son?

  909 : 11-12? Why would he be meeting with 6?

  [groaning as she sits up]

  1100 : It could have been one of the other kids.

  [a little reluctantly, she nods] 

  2 : We're going to have to send you for treatment, aren't we?

  [she nods again] 

  2 : It's all right, you can finish your ice cream first.

  6 : Everything and anything I might do is for one reason. That's to work against you.

  6 : Shouldn't we wait for 909 to get here?

  2 : He wasn't invited.

  6 : [connecting the dots]  909's my new mission.

  2 : 909 has made himself suspect. I have every faith in him as a conscientious undercover.

  6 : I know he's been spying on me.

  2 : Well, of course he is. Well, you'd learned that before, surely. It'd be a sorry state of affairs if he weren't.

• 2 : I was sitting out in the garden a few days ago. I was being watched.

  2 : 909 is different. Something's happened to him. Our long-serving lieutenant has secrets these past weeks and months. We're going to have to dig those secrets out of him. And then we will know what we're dealing with.
