Anachronisms

The camera zooms in to a room on a high floor at the Eclipse Hotel & Casino where Jim Brass is staying. The view out the window of his room shows the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel from a very low angle just 20-30 feet off the ground. If the Eclipse Hotel was real (it's fictitious) and across the street from the Paris Hotel (which is real), the view should be of the top of the Eiffel Tower not the bottom.

Plot holes

A scene with Gil and Sarah makes it obvious that the police have not even considered looking into the prime suspect's garage. Wouldn't the suspect's home and garage be a logical place to search if police wanted to prove he was up to no good?

Character error

Sarah Sidle and Grissom cannot work on the Hodges case because they have a conflict of interest. This would taint all their findings with a very high risk of rendering them inadmissible in court. Roby even tells them as much at the beginning, and they agree. Yet later, even though nothing has changed in this respect, they process Hodges' garage for evidence.
After finding the SUV suspected in being driven by the killer, CSI's Rajan and Folsom go into Scramble to try and find the owner. Hostess Christy tells them that anyone could have used the vehicle and show them to the location of the keys - a clear bowl that everyone has access to. Folsom retrieves the keys from the bowl with his bare hands. He should have been wearing gloves and should have retrieved both the keys and the bowl for processing.
It makes no sense for the dead dog to be buried directly under a bush because that is where the bush's roots are. They get in the way when trying to dig a hole, and the bush would start to die if they were damaged.
