An interesting start

My 5* rating isn't indicative of quality, simply of what this short achieves. It's a well-made and suggestive short, with a heavy dose of creepiness. But it seems more like a trailer for a much longer movie than a complete narrative in itself. Ambiguity and what's left out can make for great horror, of course, but there doesn't seem any meaning to this short that can be worked out just from what we see. I'd very much like to see a longer version, which means the short did a good enough job to earn 5 stars even without anything concrete to really appreciate.

Two sisters. The bizarre behavior of their mother, the fear of the younger and the effort to know the truth of the elder. And the end as precise fall of apparences. A good short horror exploring, in fair manner, old fears / suspicions of the childhood.

Goodnight Granny

So in this short film we have a house, a mother, daughter 1 and daughter 2. The little girl noticed that her mother ''smelled different'' and the older sister quickly realized that her mother's behavior is unusual but instead of asking some questions or do some investigating she goes to her room to sleep? That makes no sense. In the end the older sister comes face to face with the fake mother but this time the fake mother doesnt look like her mother, she looks like an old naked dirty hobo. So the question is what is this mysterious woman? Is she a demon? A shapeshifter? Why pretend to be the mother for these two girls? What does she want?

I dont know there are too many questions and not many answers, you will have to pretty much imagine what is going on about everything and i dont like that, i want to see how something starts and how it ends, i appreciate when there is logic behind a piece of art. Here the logic is that ''we have some old woman who shapeshifts, she might be a demon or a witch and she likes to pretend to be the mother of random kids'', wow nice concept! Also the movie lacks suspense, tension, build up and some solid horror atmosphere. The performances are decent. Overall this short film is nothing special or original, just a random idea executed in a mediocre way.

My rating is 3/10 and thats only because the last scene was kinda creepy, bye.
