This short film is indicative of the immense talent that comes out of Ithaca College. Shot on 16mm film with a Bolex camera, Siobhan Cavanagh's 5-minute short takes us through the "eyes" of a coin that passes through various hands. Cavanagh creates an atmosphere of light humor and fantasy that is grounded in the realism of mundane college experience. The cast is made up of college students that act like college students, and there is certainly some improvisation going on at points. The music that plays throughout is wonderful, and the end credits are well worth watching. Any flaws found in this work are flaws common in any student film shoot. It's tough to work with film in a busy college schedule, and "Coined" manages to accept the boundaries and limits of a student film and work with them. The film is a basis for improvement; and from these five minutes we can see talent waiting to burst out into bigger things. Great job, to all involved!
