In the flashback between Sylvester and Pat, Sylvester mentions a childhood bully named Hop Harrigan. This is the name of another DC hero from the 1940's, who was quite popular during WWII. Not only did he appear in comics, but in radio and film serial adaptations too. He was a teenage pilot whose partner was a mechanic, much like how Sylvester Pemberton was a child/teenage hero, with an adult mechanic as a sidekick.
Around 27:20, Court and Pat, searching for Jenny, arrived to the Helix Institute for Youth Rehabilitation. In DC comics, Helix are a group of super powered teenagers product of genetic manipulation that became villains because they had no moral compass. Later in the episode it is shown that the head nurse of the institution is called Love and she calls a Mr. Bones. Both names are characters of the Helix histories. Besides that, the logo, a modified version of the DNA double Helix, strongly ressembles the Helix Foundation logo in the show "Heroes", which is about superheroes too.
Deathbolt and The Spider, two Golden Age DC villains, are mentioned in the newspaper headlines on the workshop wall.
Courtney refers to Gentleman Ghost, an enemy of Hawkman and Hawkgirl in the comics, who has also fought other members of the JSA.
