With build up comes perfection and Chapter Six delivered in every way - they gave us a memorable showdown with flawless action sequences
Summer School: Chapter Six is directed by Walter Garcia, a stuntman who have worked on some big movies, his direction was actually great and the fight and action sequences we got this week was terrific and some of the show's best, the transition and editing was top notch during the fight scenes. The episode follows the events of the previous episode which had the JSA finally going up against Eclipso and it was a great episode, we also got to see more of Cindy as she tried to recruit some more and making herself and the new ISA ready for a showdown. Which leads up to the events of this episode which has Cindy, Isaac and Artemis take the last person on Cindy's list, it's non other than Mike, and they plan to take him hostage to bring the JSA to them so they can get revenge for the original ISA. Meanwhile Eclipso tries to find a way to free himself from the black diamond, which we know will only lead to death.
The anticipated showdown between Cyndie and her team against Courtney and her team, did it please me? Short answer, yes and I think it will please a lot of others just in how impressive it was, technically and acted. Visual effects, cinematography, choreography and simply everything was perfect. Each hero and villain got their moments to shine and there were lots of memorable scenes and performances. Trae Romano's performance as Mike surprised me in this episode, not in how great it was, but how his performance makes the character like a copy of Pat Dugan. Father like son, as you say. The best performances were absolutely Nick Tarabay as Eclipso, Meg DeLacy as Cindy Burman and Jonathan Cake as The Shade. But it was an action packed episode with a fast pace which was needed, but the actors who performed the action sequences deserve a lot of praise but also the director and the stunt coordinators.
In my opinion, this was by far the best episode of the season and possibly among Stargirl's best episodes. With that said, it wouldn't have been as good if not for the world building and huge amount of character development from the past 5 episodes as the showrunners and the cast and crew wanted one thing, for it to pay off. They succeeded in that and created 40 minutes of brilliant television in the superhero genre.
