The very part of this show has always been the dynamic between the members of the titular group. That was what made us fall in love with them when they were first introduced, and what has proven to be the winning formula of this show. When they're all on screen, it works so much better. I was happy to see that we were going to see Crosshair interacts with them again after the previous episode. And this episode did not disappoint as it does everything it has to set up an exciting finale, but also bump up all the emotions and the reveals we've awaited.
The title of the episode feels fitting. The show's first season should end where it all began. These guys were bread on Kamino, so it makes sense that the big emotional reunion should really happen on this planet. They don't waste anytime with finding a way to get them all back for the big showdown. And it quickly gets into the meat of the episode, which is the relationship between the group and Crosshair. Despite the fact that Crosshair has been on their tail throughout the whole season, there's still a deep connection between them. They're brothers, and they all want to keep a hold of that in some way or another. Showing this other side of Crosshair after he's mostly been a cold killer for the season was great and it shows that there's a lot of layers to all of these characters, the thing that has always made "Star Wars" characters the best. And the episode's action adds to the emotion. There is a big action sequence towards the end that involves all the members of the group, and it was one of my favorites in the show. It also ends on a huge note with a very visual action sequence that I thought was very impactful. The episode does move a little fast for me and it seems like they were just hurrying to get to the meat of episode, which isn't a bad thing at all, but it does make it hard for the audience to get some time to breath.
"Return to Kamino" is the show's best episode so far, and the one that brings the whole thing tumbling towards a very emotionally satisfying finale. The dynamic of the core group was once again on-point, and the setup for the final episode was well done, to the point that I now have very big expectations.
