On board they find a pregnant female in labour who Swain tries to save but she dies leaving him no option but to cut the baby from her - a boy. Mike orders that the boat be turned around despite Kate's objections. Only a pregnant one is kept aboard, but medical advice forces Swain to perform an emergency scalpel-birth, which only the baby survives.
