I've watched well over half the seasons and I'm actually on my second time watching Season 8. There are some interesting contestants on most of the Alone series - good thing because, really, just watching and hearing how each person deals with their situation, what methods they try, how they cope with the intense psychological battle (or fail to) is the only variation in each season. Other than that, we watch each player pretty much just doing the same things over and over. So having interesting contestants is important. But this season, the interesting ones are few. For the first time, I find myself fast forwarding rather than hear more of the same self-pity party, or hear another note of bad singing, or listen to more ego whining. Even Kermit got tiring for me. And the ridiculousness of not knowing which accent you'll use for which camera angle has got to be the most annoying thing I've witnessed on a reality show ever.
The person I thought could win let the mind games convince him to leave. I have zero doubt such great survivslists who fall for that mind-muck will kick themselves for it till the day they die. It's way tougher to go home and face the kids you promised you'd do your best for. It just goes to show, the most capable people don't really understand how to fight their greatest foe on this series.
Another who tapped clearly just didn't want to fail any more than he ahead had and left before he completely destroyed his reputation as a survivalist coach.
Kudos to anyone with the guts to attempt this challenge - sincerely. But this season isn't my favorite.
I also don't like the newer format at this point of the series where they no longer remind us of who's still in the game, as well as how they focus on just a few for several episodes and then go back several days to include other contestants; or speed up several days to show the first tap then go backwards.
