- Sara, Mick, Spooner, and Astra track the last alien pod to an auto junk yard in Kansas City, 2021.
On Waverider, Behad is in the mess hall trying to make cannabis brownies,. They're to soggy in the middle, and John comes in and uses magic and ends up blowing them up because he hasn't adjusted to his new strength. Behrad convinces John to stop trying, notes that John has new magic, and tells him that Zari 1.0 is on a date with Nate, and his sister swapped places with Zari 1.0 so she could do so.
Nate and Zari go camping, and Zari tells Nate that she's glad to be with him. He says that she only has 24 hours, and wants to spend them with her. They find Jeff and Jamie there, having double-booked the campsite, and the couple have lots of expensive stuff with them. Jeff says that they've got it all. Nate and Zari beg off.
The pod-tracking team find the pod but there are no aliens inside. They do find a cube, and Spooner, Mick, and Astra argue over activating it. Sara calls Ava on the comms and tells her that they might be a while, and Ava tells her that there's no rush. She's having Gideon design a wedding dress for her, and Gary comes in. Ava tells him that he's going to help her find the perfect wedding dress.
Sara tries to grab the cube from the others, and activates it. They're all teleported to Cosmic Lanes Bowling Alley, in league shirts. Spooner gets alien vibes, and Astra opens the exit door and discovers that they're floating in space.
Astra confirms her Courier isn't working, and the comms also aren't working. Two teams are playing, red shirts versus purple shirts, and Sara sees the owner, Buddy, cleaning shoes. Sara talks to Buddy, while Mick goes to the restroom.
Sara asks Buddy how they got there, and Buddy explains that the cube was an "invitation". He says that he's happy they're there, and bowling was invented by Earthlings and everyone else there just look humans.
The leader of the purple shirts, Mike the Strike, is taunting his opponents. Spooner comes and asks if they can get a ride back to Earth. Mike says that he'll give them a ride if the Legends play a game of "Cosmic Bowl'. Spooner agrees, and Mike teleports a blue ball into his bag and says that the legends are next once they finish beating the red shirts.
That night, Nate and Zari set up camp, and they can't see any stars in the sky. Zari says that she's getting hungry, and Nate has brought abgooshi and doughnuts: Zari's favorite. He realizes he grabbed Spooner's bag by mistake and there's only MRs. The couple can't reach Gideon to get a new campsite, and their couriers don't work.
Buddy shows Sara around the alley, and he explains that he loves bowling but the Pin Killers sent the invitations. He explains that they came in and took over his alley, and he needs the Legends to beat them. Buddy warns that the Legends only get one chance to beat them, and they shouldn't challenge the Pin Killers until they're ready. Spooner comes over and tells Sara that they're challenging the Pin Killers./
In their tent, Nate and Zari try to convert their radio into a comm. They get a newscast that the sun is missing, and massive chasms have appeared in three spots. The newscaster figures that it's the end of the world, and Zari agrees. The couple reluctantly go over to the other camp where Jeff is cooking pizza. Jeff boasts of the "char" on the pizza. Nate asks Jeff if he can borrow his truck to get some stuff, and Jeff agrees. However, he insists on Jamie and him going with them. They get in the truck but the battery is drained. Zari and Nate prepare to walk and Jeff and Jamie insist on hiking with them.
On Waverider, John is eager to find Sara. Behrad concedes that they haven't heard from Sarah in a while, and John orders Gideon to trace Sarah in Kansas City 20921. The AI reports that it can't lock onto Earth. Gary comes in and overhears Gideon's report, and is worried that Ava is trapped in the temporal zone away from Sara when they're planning the couple's wedding. John and Behrad assure Gary that they'll figure something out.
At the alley, Sara tells the others that the only way out is to beat the Pin Killers. Astra points out that she can't bowl, and Sara bowls a strike even though she's never bowled, either. Mick goes next, refuses to take off his gloves, and throws the ball into the wrong lane. Spooner goes next, studies the lane for the dips, then grabs a ball and bowls a strike. Astra refuses to go next, and Sara tells her that she can cheer.
On Waverider, Gary has Ava try a dress. She says that she's sure it's the dress, and Gary stalls so Ava doesn't find out that they're stranded. He convinces her that the shoulders are plain, and Gary tells Gideon to generate a new dress.
On the bridge, Gideon reports to John and Behrad that its safety protocols won't let it go to Earth if it can't get a solid fix. John confidently says that he'll compel Gideon to go to Earth with his newly restored magic after drinking from the Fountain.
At the alley, the Pen Killers win the match against the red shirts. Mike puts the winning bowl in the trophy case, and transfers the life essence of the losing team into the ball. The Legends see the transfer, and Mike tells them that it's their turn to play
Nate and the others hike through the woods, and Zari talks to Jamie. Jamie asks if Zari and Nate are doing the "long distance thing", and Zari insists that relationship is fine.
At the alley, Buddy starts the game. Mick doesn't pick up his spare.
Gary continues stalling, and he and Ava share champagne and Gary tries on another dress.
Behrad tells John that he's a good man, and they make a potion. John uses the four elements with Behrad using his Totem to supply the air. John's eyes glows and he screams as magical energy pours out of him. The energy teleports Waverider out of the temporal zone to Earth. Ava and Gary feel the shockwave, and Ava goes to the bridge to find out what's going on.
When Ava and Gary arrive, Behrad tells them that they were stuck. They're in outer space, and Gary admits that he was trying to distract Ava. She spots the bowling alley floating in, and she tells them to stay there. Ava goes to the alley and discovers that the door is locked. Sara comes over and sees Ava in her wedding dress, and Ava realizes that she forgot she was wearing it and didn't want Sara to see it. After Sara assures Ava that she looks gorgeous, Buddy tells them that the Pin Killers took control of the doors since they're league champs. Sara explains how they got there, and the only way they can leave is to beat the Pin Killers. Ava explains that John's spelled homed on Earth, and Sara realizes that Mike put Earth in his bowl.
As Nate and the others continue hiking, the sun comes up and Zari wonders if they're doomed. Mike puts his fingers into the Earth bowl, and Nate sees his fingers. When Mike rolls his ball, the earth shakes. The hikers find a vast chasm where one of the finger holes is. Jeff figures it's the end of the world, and tells Jamie that he got a secret vasectomy and that's why she never gets pregnant. Jeff figures that if they had kids, they couldn't afford their stuff. Jamie isn't happy at the news, and heads for town.
Zari wonders if she's a bad person if she thinks Jeff and Jamie are enjoyable. Nate assures her that she isn't a bad person, and sees a cloud that look like Mick as Mick peers into the finger hole.
In the alley, Sara tells the others what she's figured out. Mick grabs his ball, and tells that that if they lose, them and their planet get banished to his trophy case. Mike says that he's just a bowler, not a god. Buddy tells Sara that he can't kick the Pin Killers out because the rules say they can stay as long as they're champs. Mick complains that Spooner got them into the game, and Astra complains that their team is falling apart. Buddy tells Sara that the Pin Killers have turned his bowling alley into a bullying alley, and Mike tells the Legends to finish the game.
Mick throws a gutter ball, and tells Spooner that he's ignoring her advice and bowling is stupid. She jams a finger when a bowl comes back, and Sara calls a time-out and goes to get some ice.
Nate and Zari go back to their camp site, and Zari tells Nate that they have a chance to end things amicably. She says that she's trying to be mature and pragmatic, and Nate insists that their time together will be worth it.
Mike bowls again, and the earth shakes again. Zari figures their doomed, and Nate says that it hurts his heart being away from her. Zari says that's what she needed to hear and kisses Nate, then says that they have to save the world first. She grabs an energy blaster and prepares to shoot.
Sara realizes that they're behind, and goes to clear her head. She goes to the bar where Buddy is cleaning, and tells him that the team is falling apart and Earth will be destroyed. Buddy tells her that she can't beat bad energy with bad energy, and Sara figures they've been going about it all wrong. She has Buddy turn on the juke box, brings over alley food to her teammates, turns off the score board, and tells the others that they're losing to themselves, not the Pin Killers. She gets them to toast to the Legends, and Mick opens a bottle for Spooner. He reveals that he's been wearing his gloves to cover up his burn scars.
Sara tries to give Astra a pep talk. Astra points out that she's never bowled before, but Sara asks her if she wants to beat Mike and Astra agrees.
Spooner tells Mick that she knows a way that he can bowl without taking his gloves off. She cuts the fingers off of Mick's gloves, and he bowls a strike. Astra goes next and throws a gutter ball. Sara tells her to breath, and Astra hits some pins with her next throw. Her teammates congratulate her, and Mick throws off Clare on the Pin Killers.
The other Legends watch from Waverider, and Gary says that the bowling team will need a miracle to win.
Zari shoots Mike's finger as he prepares to throw. The shot throws off his shot and he bowls a gutter ball. Nate's Time Courier activates, and Nate and Zari go onto Waverider and kiss. Behrad finds them and figures they had a fun date, and tells him that there's a high-stake bowling game.
Behrad goes to the bridge, and Gary tells him that it's the last shot, the Legends are behind, and it's Astra's turn. Ava calls Sara on the comms and tells her that they can win if Astra rolls a strike. Astra prepares to roll her final frame, and Sara assures Astra that it's going to be all right. She tells her to bowl granny style, and assures Astra that the whole team is behind her.
Astra bowls granny style and gets a strike. The Legends win and the team hugs. Mike tries to leave, and Sara takes his ball and bowls it out into space and back where it belongs. Buddy tells Sara the he controls the alley again, and the other Legends arrive and Sara orders nachos.
John comes in and Buddy senses the power in him, and says that the powers will be the death of John.
Spooner tells Mick that bowling means everything to her, and her foster father brought her to league night every night. Ava worries that it's bad luck for Sara to see her in the wedding dress, and Sara assures Ava that she looks amazing in anything she wears... but loves Ava too much to let her get married in the dress Gary helped Ava with. Nate and Zari bump fists, and Buddy is happy to see people happy in his bowling alley. He takes a team photo.
