- 7 yrs ago, a child Maroot was abducted from a school play during a live performance. The kidnapper was dressed as one of the characters in the play, he had stolen the costume from the school's regular actor, who was later found bound and gagged.
Kasturi Dogra (Raveena Tandon) lives with her daughter Nutan (Taneesha Joshi) (about to turn 19), son Manoj, Husband Hari (Vivek Madan) and her husband's father Mahadev (Ashutosh Rana) (who is a retired cop). Mahadev tells the legend of a leopard-man (Nartendua) who emerges after the lunar eclipse. Nutan is sexting with Bunty Rawat (Wishveash Sharkholi) (Local guide) via her phone. Kasturi is a female cop in the fictional town in the hills 'Sironah', is about to take a year-long sabbatical from her job to take care of her family.
Angad Mallik (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) is her temporary replacement. As soon as he arrives, the two bicker due to the differences in their style of operating. Kasturi is more accommodating of her staff, but Angad is strict on discipline. But Kasturi is very suspicious of foreigners whom she blames for bringing drugs to the hills, while Angad likes to hear them out. When a foreign tourist named Julie Baptiste (Breshna Khan) (who is also a junkie) reports that her daughter Aimee (Anna Ador) (who is 19 yrs old) is missing, things begin to unravel.
Ravi Parashar (Indraneil Sengupta) is marrying Nilima Manhas (Priyanka Sethi), daughter of local MLA Kuber Manhas (Zakir Hussain). Ravi complains that he didn't sleep well the night before. DSP Bhaati (Mandeep Kumar) is already in touch with Kuber regarding the case. Kasturi and Angad both report to Bhaati. Kanti Dhumal (Tejaswi Dev), is the son of local minister Jagdamba Dhumal (Meghna Malik), who has a history of rape convictions. Jagdamba is sure that Kanti had something to do with this case, and asks the local Collector Ashok Srivastabva (Lalit Parimoo) to cancel Kanti's parole and send him back to jail. Ashok's son Gagan (Pratyaksh Rajbhatt) was with Kanti the night before at hotel Bom, but vows that they only had a few beers and came back home. Jagdamba asks her PA to wash Kanti's car and figure out what happened at Hotel Bom the night before.
Kuber and Jagdamba are both in line for a Rajya Sabha nomination from the party high command. Kuber has a royal lineage, while Jagdamba has worked for the people and has a clean image. Kuber wants to develop a resort on forest land, but Jagdamba has put a stay on it. Kuber sees an opportunity to implicate Kanti in Aimee's murder, so he can get the Rajya Sabha nomination, as well as his resort.
Nutan is having sex with Bunty while Kasturi is away at work. A black leopard attacks Nutan, but Kasturi and Mahadev reach in time and manage to force it back with a burning wooden log. Julie had an argument with Aimee the night before, when Julie stopped her from going to the disco. Sundar is Julie's recent boyfriend. He is from Pondicherry.
Mahadev and Kasturi track the leopard and Aimee is found dead, hanging from a tree, with claw marks on her neck. She is wearing a friendship band on her wrist, similar the one gifted by Bunty to Nutan. Mahadaev Dogra (Ashutosh Rana), believes it to be the work of half-man, half-leopard local myth called 'Nartendua', that escaped from him 19 years ago after committing a series of murders (he killed 9 girls in the previous streak). Bhaati gives the case to Angad and asks Kasturi to step aside since she is on sabbatical. Unable to let the first huge case in years slip from her hands, Kasturi resumes her role and begins investigating along with Angad.
