- In a conformist world where everyone wears the exact same pair of spectacles, a woman starts to question the peculiarity of her society and finds an illegal opportunity to see things differently... and dance.
- The ringing of traffic, in a world of humdrum grey buildings. Sat at a bus stop, is AVA. It is now clear, the entire bus stop is dressed the same, blue turtlenecks, along with identical oval spectacles. The entire world wears these spectacles. Lingering cold gazes at the bus stop, when everyone suddenly turns to their right; toward a man, topless, dancing as though his life depended on it. They watch him, unmoved, when Ava notices his spectacles: they are star-rimmed. He is known as a 'Star-Gazer'. The Star-Gazer begins to moonwalk toward them, when a car approaches with speed and two men in black suits usher him inside.
Mundane walls contain isles of booths alternating between fifty shades of grey.. The sound of stamping, as workers, one being Ava, get through a prodigious pile of papers with speed. A bell rings and the workers rise, forming perfect queues into a large conference room. The workers orbiting a table, observing a hamster in a ball running around an obstacle course. Ava stares deeply at the hamster stuck behind an obstacle, she stops walking and the workers fall like dominoes.
That evening, Ava stands in a public toilet practicing her smile in the mirror, when another Star-Gazer dashes in. This time it's a woman, dancing in her own way, loving life. Ava somewhat threatened, splashes water from the tap at her, when another set of men in black suits rush in and usher the lady out. Ava turns back to mirror, composing herself, when she notices something on the floor. A pair of star-rimmed spectacles. Later, Ava holds an uninspiring bouquet of flowers, sat next to JUDE. They sit in a crowd, watching a MIME ARTIST, all laughing at a 'stuck in a box' routine. Not Ava, she inspects the star spectacles with her hands.
Birds whistle the next morning at the bus stop, as Ava sits among the same crowd in the position as the day prior. They all stare expressionless, as several commuters pass them when PAUL, trips over in front of them. He screams out in pain, when Ava notices his spectacles are smashed on the floor. Paul's eyes are clenched shut, when he finds his broken spectacles and screams more. No one looks to help, when Ava remembers the hamster stuck behind an obstacle and the mime artist in a box. She rises and hands him her spectacles, closing her eyes. The bus crowd gasp.
She pulls the star-gazer specs from her pocket and places them on. The world now crawls with colour and Ava can't help but smile. Music starts to play in her ear and she begins to dance. The crowd watch, as she has the time of her life: A blend of ballet and contemporary, enjoying a freedom she has never felt. A black car approach and two men in black usher inside. The world goes black.
A door slams and light floods in, as Ava now stands in a corridor. Dull murmurs come from the end of the corridor and she follows it curiously. She opens a red door at the end, to reveal a large room of people, now staring at her. They are all wearing Star-Gazer spectacles. In unison they look toward the front at DJ Martina standing at the front. He stares at Ava and then smiles, hitting play on cheerful music and everyone starts to dance freely. A few slow seconds pass, then Ava smiles to herself and walks in.
