Brick Mansions (2014)

Goofs

Brick Mansions

Edit

Continuity

As Damien and Lino are breaking into Brick Mansion with the large cargo van, an interior shot of the van is that of a 5th generation V6 Mustang with a manual transmission.
When Lola and Lino are escaping in the Mustang with Tremaine, Lola uses gear selector from an automatic vehicle. A few seconds later when changing to a forward moving gear, the camera shows Lola releasing a clutch pedal, which an automatic car would not have.
When Lino and Lola are kidnapping Tremaine, Lola puts the car into Drive and hits the throttle and the car goes in Reverse.
When Paul Walker is going to enter the code on the bomb the first time you can see the first 3 digits "482" are already on the number pad.
(at around 1h 7 mins) Damien and Lino use the exterior fire escape ladder to go up the building being followed by Tremaine and his men. They pull down the first section of the ladder and at which point the tensioned cable that holds the ladder up can be seen. After they climb a few floors and a cut-scene of Tremaine going up the stairs in the interior of the building, Damien is shown again climbing the fire escape stairs and the suspension cable is again visible placing him back at the bottom section.

Factual errors

Major Reno's uniform has two stars on each shoulder, the rank of a major general in the U.S. Army. Either Reno is wearing the wrong rank (an U.S. Army major is denoted by a gold oak leaf on each shoulder) or used the wrong title (the short form of general officer ranks in the army is simply "General").
The speedometer shown for when Lola is driving the mustang is apparently the one from the panel van. Oddly the steering wheel shown during the van driving scenes are that of the mustang. Considering both times that those were literally the only thing on screen, it was nothing more than lazy editing.
When Tremaine asked the guy to monitor the money transfer to the Hawaiian bank account he replies it doesn't open for 25 minutes and banks at the latest 9am in all countries. Tremaine is cooking dinner and Hawaii is 6hrs behind Detroit so he was cooking dinner at 3pm?

Revealing mistakes

Damien's grandfather is reading about the "undercover agent" that arrested the drug kingpin in the newspaper but Damien Collier's name and rank is written under the picture as the arresting officer.
When Damien goes to enter the digits on the device after knocking Lino down the first time, a short scene reveals wounds below his right eye which was not supposed to be until after his fight with Lino.

Miscellaneous

Just after the heroes cause the head-on collision after being chased, the sniper takes a shot at Damien. He tries to take another shot and realizes he has no ammo. He places in a new magazine and racks his bolt action rifle, ejecting the casing of the last shot showing he never worked the bolt before trying that second shot.
In the Mustang car chase. Tremaine shouts at Lola about her gear changing and the cost to replace. He doesn't show any concern about his crew shooting at the vehicle with high caliber weapons.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

During a fight between Rayzah and Lola, Rayzah shoves Lola onto something that sounds like a piano with piano keys being mashed. It's actually an electric organ and even if it were on, would not have sounds like that built in.
It might and might not be Vin Diesel thats dubbing David Belles (Lino) voice, but looking closely throughout the film. Davids lips sometimes don't match what is being said and sometimes don't even move, so someone has dubbed over Davids voice.

Crew or equipment visible

(at around 42 mins) An aerial camera on a boom arm is visible at the top left-hand side of the frame for several seconds - pointed towards the cops on the roof.
In many stunt scenes throughout the film, you can see the face of Paul Walker's stunt double.

Errors in geography

When the camera pans out from Detroit at aroun 1hr 5mins, it is actually panning out from a suburb of Chicago. (Chicago is at the southwest corner of Lake Michigan; Detroit is at the west end of Lake Erie.)
When they pan out from the missile launchpad, it's from a building in San Francisco and not from Detroit. You can clearly see the Transamerica Pyramid Building.
In each shot of the missile overlooking Detroit you get a view of the Renaissance Center from the east, but when they talk about the Zip Code 48216 is the zip code for the west side of Detroit.
In "prison transfer" scene, where Damien is hijacking the Police van, Montreal skyline is clearly visible in the background.
When the fed guy gets the call telling him about the rocket and they zoom out from the GPS location of the rocket, they zoomed out from Chicago not Detroit. Ooops.

Plot holes

While otherwise firing multiple sniper rifle shots around the neutron bomb, a single shot could have safely destroyed it.
