- Our story begins with the introduction of an Executive PA who works for a company in London. The world of the socially aspiring now intrudes upon middle class young professionals and the conflict within our story therefore begins.
- At the opening of our film there exists two separate worlds in Battersea - the world of young professionals from middle class families, and the world of graduates from working class families. Our drama consists in the collision of these two worlds that stand in direct opposition to each other. These two worlds are rarely brought into contact with each other except through the person of the Executive PA who weaves his way between these two worlds.—Anonymous
- Inspired by the Windrush television series of June 1998, and an episode of The Twilight Zone titled 'King Nine will not Return', an Executive PA begins work on his second novel titled 'When Two Worlds Meet'. It is his first historical novel, his previous novel titled 'From Tottenham to Oxford' set in the 1990s. He sets aside a year (September 2000 to August 2001) to write the synopsis and first three chapters (50 pages) of the book, and then another three years (September 2001 to August 2004) to complete the novel. He manages to deliver a 100,000 word novel by July 2001 but it is turned down by all agents and publishers in the country. The Executive PA is now faced with the reality that he will never be able to earn a living as a novelist.
To add to his misery, he is made redundant from his job, forcing him to seek temporary jobs when his savings run out. A series of short bookings leads to a longer term booking, but the frustration of not being published forces him out of yet another job. The Executive PA moves from being an unpublished novelist to being unemployed.
