The opening scenes in this drama move along too rapidly to get up much feeling; too many of the situations seem planned to suit the convenience of the cameraman. The employer's action in kissing a girl on an open road in full view of half a dozen people does not seem likely for a man of his standing. Later along, where the boy knocks the man down for abusing his horse, the story gets hold, but even here more leisurely methods would have strengthened the general effect of the film. - The Moving Picture World, July 12, 1913
