It's fun, it's likeable.

The characters have very little depth but that's to be expected in a show targeted at an audience between 8 and 14 years of age. It's well paced and easy enough to follow, and making everyone on the ship a different species promotes diversity without taking great pains to hammer the point home. After a single two-part pilot episode, it's too early to definitively grade the program, but so far, I'm absolutely looking forward to the next episode.

This series is better than Star Trek Discovery

-I loved the episode, although the new 'captain' is as dumb as James T. Kirk from Star Trek 2009 (i have nothing against that movie, excepting the uniforms) but i couldn't miss one mistake : Janeway's uniform and the insignia are the wrong ones ,that style was changed in the war with the Borgs from Star Trek : First Contact ,in the same time when Seven of Nine joined the crew of U. S. S. Voyager and we know U. S. S Protostar was made after Star Trek :Voyager's ending ,when Janeway was promoted to the rank of admiral and her uniform was changed with the grey and black one. If they wanted to keep the old uniform ,as an homage to Voyager's journey to the Delta quadrant, then the insignia should be the one introduced in Star Trek :Generations ,not this one ,which is obviously introduced in the post -Voyager era so i consider this as being a production mistake, like the one from the trailer of that Star Trek :Discovery's episode from season 3 , about that Starfleet officer from Star Trek 2009 timeline, when they used the uniforms from the first season of Star Trek :TNG and the insignia from Star Trek:Generations.

Anyway ,i expected to see something else in this episode ,but it was a good surprise ,the ship so cool and even better than the upgraded U. S. S. Discovery .I hope they will introduce that Caitian child as a main character, because there are way too many nasty characters in this show, but this is a common problem in any Star Trek series ,even in the better ones (the fans hate that ),for example the second part of Deep Space Nine ,when the main characters are becoming more likeable it is considered better than the first one ,when everybody was cranky and the same goes with Star Trek :Enterprise.

A Senior trekker writes.....................

Kate Mulgrew must be delighted to be associated with such a high quality production after some of the miss-steps taken by the Star Trek franchise in recent seasons. If Star Trek Prodigy carries on like this two-part pilot episode, senior viewers will be queueing up to watch it with their grandchildren.

Lost & Found: Part 2

The kids find themselves on the USS Protostar. The ship's translator has kicked in which means the others can now get to know each other a bit more as their characters are revealed.

The group expands to have an engineer Jankom Pog and an indestructible blob called Murf.

Both come into use and they need to escape from Tas Lamora in the USS Protostar.

Again the animation is very good, it really looks expensive. The introduction of the hologram of Captain Janeway certainly gives it a Star Trek feeling.

It still feels rootless, maybe because Dal R'El, Rok-Tahk and others need to be established more. It also might also need to be more free wheeling like Lower Decks.
